garmin c550 mph

how do you change the mph on the c550.im a truck driver and when i go into il.,oh.ect. the speed limit for trucks are 55mph but the c550 show 65. is there a way to change it thanks

You can't change the mph as it is a calculated value from data it is obtaining from satellites. Most users believe that the data is more accurate than your speedometer. Do a search on this site for "speedometer" for more information.

65 MPH to 55 MPH

Yes-- on my truck I let up on the fuel pedal a little!

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Speed Limit Problem

By any chance is he talking about ALERTS being set to warn at 65 along his route??

Slowing down seems too obvious a solution.

I have never heard of a unit being off, mine is dead on, if that iswhat he meant. Perhaps as suggested above, he meant some type of alert.

I believe the 7xx series has that capability.

My c550 doesn't

My 750 shows a speed limit

My 750 shows a speed limit sign on the disply but only shows up on the highways. If the 550 has that it is probably giving the car not truck speed limit

Joe,

The answer to your question is "NO". The device only knows the speed limit for the highway you are on - not car versus truck limits, and NO, you cannot change it.

The C550 does not display speed limits, as the 7xx series do.

The only way the C550 will do anything similar, is with a custom poi. Or as suggested above...let off of the gas pedal.
