When I Switch My Garmin Zumo XT To USB-C, What Wire Size Should I Use?

As posted above, I am preparing to switch my Garmin Zumo XT to a cable with a USB-C port.
I am seeing some USB-C cables that are 20 AWG and others that are 22AWG. I assume I should match the cable size of the USB-C cable to that of the Garmin Motorcycle cable. If I reach out to Garmin and ask the wire size will they be able to tell me?

Probably more of a physical dimension limitation
20 AWG is 0.032 inches in diameter. 22 AWG is about 0.025 inches in diameter. Without getting into the electrical aspects of the choice, if you have the physical room to accommodate the 20 AWG you will be better off. The cable will be stronger and permit, if needed, an increased current flow. The current flow is a function of the attached device and its demands.

I made the switch tonight to USB-A male instead of USB-C.
Now I am looking for the best way to make the connection water-resistant. Any thoughts?

Find some shrinkwrap type material, or even liquid electrical tape.

Where is the USB A port located? Is it a panel mount or another cable end with a USB A female port?
I use these surface mount USB A ports on my e-bike:

They aren't advertised as weatherproof but I mount them so the opening faces downward. When not in use, I use these plugs to cover the openings:

Even though I ride in the rain occasionally and transport the bike in driving rain storms sometimes, I've never had an issue with water damage to the ports.

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.
I will move the Zumo XT to different locations. On the Can Am ATV there is a 12 volt outlet on the side. I may use a USB-A car charger there.
On my e-bikes, I have pouches that can hold power banks that have USB-A ports.
And now that I think more about this, I could also use a power bank on the ATV and put it in a plastic bag.

You can't go wrong keeping the power source and connector in a waterproof container on a larger vehicle.
I did this for awhile on my e-bike but I have 4 USB powered devices. The individual power banks got a bit bulky and required individual charging. It made sense to use the E-bike battery. The total amp draw was negligible on the larger battery and it simplified the charging routine.
