Proximity alerts and handmade POI csv files

I created a csv file by hand, using some files I downloaded as a model.

Lat, Long, description

When I download those other files, the proximity alerts of 1391ft seem to happen automatically, but on my own file, I get nothing.

The points map correctly. Just no alerts.

How do I fix this?

ADDENDA

I tried tacking onto the end of one of the other files, and it works.

What the hey?

I haven't tried alerts yet,

I haven't tried alerts yet, but the Garmin CSV format has LON before LAT.

backwards in my mind

I'm just defining Lat and Long wrong then. I modeled the numbers based on the way the other file did it, and they map correctly. I'm not in the Indian Ocean. wink

Don't know what is up.

Regular POI files will not alert by default. If you want an alert, you must set one.

If you are getting an alert of 1391 feet on another POI file, is that the redlight file? The word "redlight" will produce a proximity alert of 0.25 miles by default.

Here's some great information on alerts.
