wrong turns

It happens sometimes. It's not perfect all the time. You have to use your own senses sometimes.

When you start up from a STOPPED position the GPS really doesn't know which direction you are in In this case it thought you were pointing in the other direction.

Once you start moving it then correctly knows the right direction.

So just follow common sense and use the GPS as a CO-PILOT (Like My Wife) and use SELECTIVE HEARING!!

Does this mean I should stop pretending I'm Al Pacino in "Scent of a Woman?" I've been driving with a blindfold just listening to the voice prompts from my Nuvi.

Never seen this issue before.

GPS serve only as a guide.

This happens occasionally with my unit; sometimes well after I have started moving.

I've seen the both the text and audio differ from the map several times.

I think I remember that it prefers right hand turns.

If I back up into my driveway with the nuvi on, it will show that I'm facing North. Backing up is West while the front of my car points East. It happens. Probably the sats not getting a good fix while it boots up.

Some GPSs such as the hand held units use for hiking etc. have built in electronic compassescan tell you which way your unit is pointing. The moble ones such as the NUVIs need to me moving to calculate the direction.

I get it sometimes even when I'm moving and in the middle of a planned route.
