No text is displayed to edit.
Didn't try any others.

I am new here, I read the FAQ section and did a search but I could not find an answer to my question.

I have a Nuvi 350 and have added the restareascombined POI file and icons to my GPS. However, there are times that I am not using it as a route and would like to see the rest areas on the map while driving. Just not alerts when getting close.

Is this possible? if so how?

FYI. I was able to connect my 265wt to my computer as a hands free "headset" device and use it as the speaker and microphone for Skype.

Connecting it to the computer was a bit a tricky. I'll detail what I did but all steps may not be necessary.

1. Put the computer in discovery mode.
2. Have the nuvi search for new devices.

I am a complete newbie, so if this is a bonehead question, please forgive me.

When adding a Favorite location, I see no place to enter a comment, eg Suite number, name of a contact person, how well they tip etc.

I do see room for a phone number, but we are limited to numerics.

Is there something I am missing?

Has anyone else had this symptom? When I attach my 755T to my new ASUS notebook running Vista Home Premium 64 Bit, I get a dialog that reads "Do you want to scan and fix Garmin nuvi (H:)? There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it."

POIs are loaded and working along with a new icon for rest areas. The owner's manual says "To change the proximity alert setting, touch TOOLS > SETTINGS > PROXIMITY POINTS > PROXIMITY ALERTS. There is no such setting on my unit. The PROXIMITY POINTS setting is missing. What's up with that?

On my 755T I've been adding new POIs and deleting old ones and have one left over in the Garmin/Poi/ directory on the 755 unit called 006D135900.gpi. Is this a system file that needs to stay or can I delete it?

how long does it take to charge the battery and how long does it last?

I downloaded and installed werskin's State Parks / Provincial Parks Combined List for the USA / Canada poi file which contains over 4600 entries. However, when I open the file on my Nuvi 750 I can find only 52 parks, all in Florida where I'm located. What's wrong?

I have a Kenwood DNX7100 and I need to update the MAPS to the latest version. The Garmin Website only lists the SD card as an option, but this is pricey! I'd really like to be able to use the Citynavigator CD.

Two questions for forumers:

Has anyone successfully upgraded the maps in a DNX7100 using the CITYNAVIGATOR CD, and if so can they explain how to do it?

Any experience with the new Garmin friction mount? It looks like an improvement on the old beanbag.

As a new kid on the block, I created my first two csv files by tediously hand typing coordinates, descriptions, info, etc in each spreadsheet cell. THEN, I read the FAQ on how to use Google Earth. (Is there a forehead-slapper Smiley anywhere? There oughta be.)

Hey there folks. I have tried many times now to load 4 files onto my 760.(Speed-Cameras.csv,Redlight-Cameras.csv,redlight_nuvi_amer_eng_jack,red_light_caution_transparent) I can load the 1st 2 always, but the last 2 will not load. I read Mommas note & tried changing the name of files but still will not load.
For example

For Jill
Changes from version 1.90 to version 2.20:
Improved pronunciation of foreign street names where map phonetics are available.
Improved handling of foreign abbreviations.
Normalized volume across all voices.
For Jack:
Changes from version 1.40 to version 1.70:
Improved pronunciation of foreign street names where map phonetics are available.

No guarantees but so far this has worked for me.

Hello all, I just got the 2009 update map and loaded it onto my SD card with mapsource (unlocked). I kept the orignal 2009 map on the nuvi 260. From what I've read I thought I could pick which one I wanted. I went to "settings, map, map info" and only the orignal map is available. There are no other files on the SD card other than gmapsupp.img. Did I miss something??

It appears harder-shell than the beanbag mount most of us have and love. Not sure what the advantages of this one would be compared to the beanbag mount.

Has anybody tried it, or seen it in a store?

I have a NUVI 760 and was about to subscribe to the FM traffic lifetime subscription for $60.00. The question I have is will the Traffic alerts be verbal or just show on the screen? Next question will the verbal alerts play thru my cars stereo? Is it worth it?
