Hello, to all members of POI Factory.
I have a Nuvi 670 and I had poi`s in the favorites file and when I turned the Gps off and turn on again and went to the favorites poi`s no longer there. One question, I forgot to save them in a file in the computer. Can I recover them? or I have to do another list and make sore that I save in the computer.
I send some poi`s from google to the gps and the latitude and longitude show up like this 42A° 44'55",80A°26'57". I am used to see them like this -68.334446,44.363471, that`s why I ask.
Thanks if some one can give me some information

Attach your 670 to your computer and it will appear as a new drive. Double click on it, open the Garmin folder, then open the GPX folder. You should see a file called Current.gpx. Copy that file to your C drive.
Now use one of the free gpx editors and open the Current.gpx file on your C drive. Hopefully it will have the favorites.
If the file does contain your favorites, just rename the file to Test.gpx and then load it back to the GPX folder on your Garmin. When your Garmin reboots you should see your favorites again.
Looks like different coordinate formats

Your first example looks like degree minute second (latitude, longitude). The second one looks like degree.decimal (longitude, latitude).
Garmin is looking for longitude, latitude, POI Name.

I would be willing to bet they are there; locations don't disappear from the favorites. However, the order in which they appear changes since it sorts them according to their distance from your current location. I'm guessing that you may have tapped on the vehicle to save a location and upon checking, found it in your favorites at the top of the list. Then you moved and did not see the location at the top of the list.

The coordinates you are getting are in degrees/minutes/seconds and you want decimal degrees. You should be able to specify that the program express the coordinates in your desired format.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
gpx editor
Thanks for your response. I went to garmin folder found the file, but I am not understanding which gpx editor. Do I have to download a program for that, if for that can you tell me which one if you can.
Thanks
Gps! ask where to go and get there! Best of all, what we need is to have accurate pois to reach all destinations
Double click on it
Double click on file (open in notepad). Does it just one or 2 lines or does it have many lines with latitude/longitude for your favorites? If you see your favorites, they should show up on your GPSr under Favorites. If it's empty, you must have erased your Favorites. Also, look in Tools>My Data>Delete Favorites. Do they show up there?

Did not find My data file
Hello, jthawkin, I did the search for the data file and did not find it. I did convert the current.gpx file into a csv to make sore the favorites where there, but they weren't. I do not know how I deleted the favorites, but they disappeared. I have to input new favorites, but now I have a plan to save them in the computer. If I do them in the gps I can copy the file to the computer and convert to csv if I need. The file for the favorites is in .gpx.
I like to work with the coordinates in decimal, and I do them on Google maps the coordinates show in degrees.
If you know how to transfer from Google to gps in decimal I appreciate. Now I have to learn how to change the phrase (Recalculating)
Thank you for your time helping me.

I don't use Google Maps for
I don't use Google Maps for this, but I saw a Garmin video on how to do this. I think you just select send to and select Garmin.

I think it is also discussed here: http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/
You can also search this site for Google.
