I use garmin edge 705 for the bike especially when I travel out of town. However, I would like to edit the start and stop point of routes downloaded. What is the easiest way or site to do this on. I prefer to use routes off mapmyride.com as they are usually loaded from riders in those areas where I am traveling. Thanks.
.
If you edit a point on a route the Garmin will automatically recalculate the entire route. Probably not what you want.
.
I downloaded a file to see what data was in there. These files are tracks (at least the one I downloaded was). You would need to use the track editing tools in MapSource in order to edit the track. Then if you want the track to be a route, you would need to manually trace over the route with the Routing Tool to create a route and then send the route to the GPS unit.
When you said that you use a "garmin 705", I'm assuming that you mean the Edge 705 and not the nuvi 705. You need to check to see if that unit will follow a track. Based upon a quick review of the features, it looks like it might. In that case, you might be able to use the track as a track and not have to convert it to a route.
I know it uses tracks or
I know it uses tracks or courses. I can download files from map my ride or motionbase.com but I want to edit the course to start from where I am staying at the time. Other wise the 705 just shows that you are off course with a compass arrow and how far to get back on course. I want turn by turn like the course itself. The edge 705 uses .tcx and .crs files.

anymore ideas anyone?
