Garmin 755T Advertisement Bars.

On my 755T I get very small pop up boxes with ads.
How do I get rid of them?

ads

I believe the ads are bulit in with the traffic receiver power cord. If you get rid of the ttm power cord you have and get one that does not have the receiver built in they might go away but you will lose traffic updates. Is this correct in theory guys?

I believe so

My problem on mine is I keep getting them for the next 3-4 days after leaving a traffic area. Other than that I agree that a regular power cord or a 12 volt to USB and the proper USB cable may work also.

Ad Supported Traffic

Those ads are paying for your "free" traffic hazard alerts. If you dump the ads you'll probably also be eliminating the alerts. It's a tradeoff.

Cheers wink

Last summer, I added the Lifetime FM service from Clear Channel to my Nuvi 765T thinking that I would gain additional coverage and get rid of the ads at the same time. The ads kept coming however and an email to Garmin confirmed that adding the Clear Channel would not get rid of the ads. However, they must have addressed the issue in an update because I have not seen an ad in months now. My wife's Nuvi 765T doesn't have the additional traffic service and does show the ads. So it appears that adding the paid service now gets rid of the ads.

I don't think that buying the Clear Channel service is worth it for getting rid of the ads alone. They are rather unobtrusive and they disappear once you get moving. However if you want the additional coverage, then getting rid of the ads is a bit of bonus.

Don't work.

Short of paying for the service none of the remedies work after the GPS is turned off and back on.
I tried all the remedies just for fun but the ads only show up when you are stopped and are not that much of a problem to me.

Ads

balvert, the reason the ads went away is because the nuvi has begun to only access the Clear Channel traffic. If you were to clear the FM table and drive somewhere where the NAVTEQ signal was better, the ads would reappear. The only way to truly eradicate the NAVTEQ ads on a GTM-20R with the free lifetime subscription is to add the paid NAVTEQ subscription on top of it.

Thanks

Thanks - they're not that bad so I'll probably just ignore them.

Just wondering.

Ad coupon

The ads that I get on my 755T indicate that there is a coupon. I have been getting Olive Garden ads popping up recently. But when I click on the ad I just get a list of nearby Olive Garden's. No coupons..... Is there really supposed to be a coupon when you click on the ad?

When you see the ad has

When you see the ad if it has coupon icon touch the icon on the go page to see the code.Write the code down(not while driving in case I am in front of you)and present the code number when you arrive at the location for your ad.

Edit to view ads touch tools and then advertisements
