Street names missing in banners after 2010-4 update

I have been reading that some models of Nuvi no longer give the name of the upcoming street in the banner at the top of the screen. For instance my 660 says "42nd Street ahead" or some such. This has not disappeared on my unit. I gather some models do not do this but rather do something like "street ahead" It almost sounds like it's a change in some of the newer models. I would like to advise a friend on model choice but I'm wondering which models do give the name of the intersecting streets and which do not. Thanks

Mine displays it as usual, so I guess 7x5 series is ok.

Upcoming Street Names

There were two different threads on this subject in the last few months. Search to find them - they are quite extensive. At first, it was thought that the map update or firmware update had something to do with this feature disappearing; but no, it was a feature of that unit. Some have it and some don't.

Which don't

have it

You got it almost right, but the second section should have read 6X0 and 7X0, because as you know the 765 and all the rest of the units ending in 5 as well as all of the nits in the 800 series AND all of the >1000 models and 660/665 (and probably 220) Zumos do NOT show the upcoming cross streets when no navigating.

If indeed the Nuvi 660 isn't showing upcoming cross streets in the banner box then this could be due to a recent firmware update . . . .

The lack of the upcoming cross street information is the biggest reason that my 760 and ZUmo 660 are likely the last Garmin vehicle navigators I will buy - the second biggest is that there is no secondary street detail displayed on newer units when zoomed beyond a 500 meter zoom factot.

Thanks for catching the error bramfrank...I knew I'd mess up somewhere. Since it's unverified if the nuvi 6x0 behavior has changed with a firmware update and this forum is nuvi related, I won't include that or the zumo series. Since I can't go back and edit the above post...

Update:
