To screw or not to screw.

For those of you that have your GPS mounted to your motorcycle handlebars, do you use the security screw? It seems the entire mount can easily be removed with a socket and/or wrench so long term "out of sight" would be out of the question. But how about short term, with bike in sight? Do you put any faith in the screw? question

.

First of all, you can buy a RAM locking knob that secures with a key - so no one can casually remove the cradle.

Obviously you have a Zumo 550 - the 660 has no security, which I think is a huuuuuuuge mistake - I don't want to have to remove my unit when I step away from the machine for a second - and the 660 would have been simple to secure - I drilled a small hole in the removal plunger and threaded a screw into that so the 660 can;t be easily removed.

When I had my 550 I left the navigator locked on the bike except when parked overnight at hotels (I always parked indoors at my office and at home.

Thanks for the response bramfrank

Didn't know about the RAM Locking knob, I'll Google it and see what I can find. I hoped for more responses, but appreciate yours. Think I'll start a new thread for us Bikers. George, Reston, Va

To screw or not to screw

What I do in my personal time is none of your business!
