nuvi 1390T What is the format for the POI file type? CSV or GPS and where can I validate it at Garmin? And last part, how do I load it in. I dont see a POI loader for the 1390T

Hey guys, this is all new to me but I purchased a G510 back in 05 if I remember correctly, I think im really starting to confuse it though because im using non exsisting on and off-ramps and driving down streets running into houses and buildings (so it thinks). what would the latest version of map updates be and the fastest way to obtain it?

Can anyone tell me how to get the old POI's out so that I can update the file? tks

Do I need to update/purchase new/least verson of Map if I only drive in city? Thanks.

Since my Nuvi 200 doesn't have enough internal memory for the mapping that I want, I'm running 2010.4 off of a 4gb SD card. From Map Info, I unchecked the outdated internal map (2008 or something like that).
I thought about copying the POI folder and adding it to my SD card, but I checked a known red light camera location and it was there in the new map.

When entering new favorites on to my 255wt, is it more accurate to enter the addresses off of say Google maps or actual coordinates? I've noticed that when I go with the addresses my GPS will tell me I'm at the address when in fact I may be a hundred or even two hundred yards away. Thanks

Probably others have run into the same problem, but navteq the source for garmin's maps has errors throughout, ie, delivery trucks told me they were being sent two miles east of my home location when they would arrive late after having called. Sure enough when I tried to locate my property it indicated an eastern location from actuality.

Hi, I am a little confused. I loaded Mapsource onto my PC and I am not really sure why I would want to send a map to my device. Does that override the base map? I may be overanalyzing this but I am not sure if someone could summarize why I would use that and load in a map like Baltimore MD or somewhere.

When I load custom POI's with POI loader, they appear on the device when I explore using my computer, but the 'extras' icon does not show up on the unit. Sometimes, but not often, it shows up just to disappear again when I plug it in. Okay, so I had this problem and talked to Garmin twice, so they eventually told me to get a new unit, which I just did. Came home, loaded the updates, and...

My Garmin 750 is now more than 1-year old and when I power up I am getting a "map out of date" nag notice that does not go away on its own. I do not wish to update at this time. Any one know how to delete this message ???

I have just returned to Southern Ontario from a trip to Key West, about 6000 Km (nearly 4000 miles). During the trip I had some strange experiences, with the nuvi, that I thought may be of interest to some of you.

After haveing my 750 about a month and giving wife a 755T for her B-day we won't even go 2 blocks without one. The RLC alert saved us the other day going to Prescot, never saw it till alarm went off. Road had been 65, changed to 55, we were 55 at trap and car in front maybe 57-60 go light-up. It was a city cam so no 10 MPH grace.

I think I've figured out why the Nuvi's freeze for a few seconds when typing. It's because of the number of custom POI's, either in the unit, or on a card.

I experiend this after loading the US Postal Zip POI, and found the typing delay was there, not too bad but there. As I have mine on the SD card, I just removed the card and no more delays.

My 260W battery failed after only 8 months. I contacted Garmin and was told to send my unit in for exchange. I'm now working on my second exchange/refurb unit. The refurb units have had various problems, however Garmin has been replacing them and paying for shipping back & forth. Customer service has been great, but I'm beginnning to wonder about their quality control.

I have a Nuvi 1490t and when I tried to copy the POI files to the 1490 using POIEDITOR the Nuvi runs out of space. I've eliminated some of my POI files to get it to load.
What files can I delete on the Nuvi besides the cars and voices?

I have several GPS devices. They are:

-Garmin StreetPilot 2730

-Garmin Nuvi 500

-Garmin Nuvifone G60

-Pharos GPS Phone 600 with Garmin Mobile XT

I am just wondering if anybody happens to know if it is possible to tether any of those devices to display on a Dell Min1 10 netbook under Windows Mobile XT?

How to open and transfer to a Garmin GPS some downloaded unlocked map files ?
For Europe I have 13 files 150MB RAR generating each 1.5 GB of data.
I RAR one of them which generates an .img file.
But Mapsource does not recognize it.
I am lost.

how can i copy maps from new garmin to an old one?
