Use POIloader, download it from Garmin site.
After installing POIloader some people report it didn't make a desktop or start-up menu shortcut.
Need a shortcut, go to were POIloader installer created folder and placed the program. Copy the folder location from the address bar. Right click below bottom file and select new shortcut. Past the folder address plus \POIloader.exe
Connect your GPS to computer, start POIloader, select your gps, select automatic or manual mode, select folder were POI files are located (your not selecting files).
POIloader in automatic will install all files in that folder and any sub-folders (1st level only). When complete will give a status message.
POIloader in manual will install all files in that folder and any sub-folders (1st level only). It will ask what proximity alerts you want. When complete will give a status message.
There is a little more to it but this should get you started.
