I have downloaded the POI, created download folders and csv and gpx files. When I try to upload to my nuvi 1350 all files are grey and not accessible in the POI. Please advise.

I loaded several cvs files and one gpx file to my nuvi 765. Everything was in one directory. All the cvs files show up as custom POIs however the GPX file, Florida Wildlife Management Areas, is nowhere to be found. Am I not doing something that I should be doing?

I am a first time user of a GPS unit. I just acquired a Garmin 255W unit. I have it set on "Faster Time" as the Route Preference. I was wondering why it consistently draws the suggested route on a route that are on smaller roads that I know from previous experience that are not the "faster route".

This makes me question how accurate the "Faster Time" setting is on this device.

The POI Loader has always worked fine until today. When I click run for WinZip Self_Exractor I get an error.

anyone know where i can get discounted map updates for a nuvi? i still cant believe they cost as much as they do. i havent updated my maps since i got it about 2 years ago and id like to at least get the 2010 maps.

i think its almost wrong to allow drivers to drive with the wrong maps.

I've been unplugging my Garmin 855 from the accessory socket to help my car battery to recharge after it drained enough in six days of non-use to need a jump.

Is there any significant differences between the 2011.20 USA maps and the 2011.31 USA maps????????

Hi. I'm new to this site and have just acquired a new Garmon 1490 LMT. For years I have been using a Garmin Quest so the changes in technology are many. I am open to any advice regarding this unit including the best POI's to download. Glad to have found this site and I look forward to learning and sharing.

I own a Garmin 1390T.

I do know why my favorites are not staying deleted, but I am sure what I should due to fix the problem.

I am importing waypoints (favorites) to my 1390T using Google Maps or Microsoft Streets an Trips.
Each Waypoint gets a "gpxfile-number.gpx" file downloaded to the 1390T and is placed in the devices "GPX" folder.

I'm a bit confused about the Red Light & Speed Camera POI's
I downloaded here. I know how to install them on my Garmin but the usage is a bit vague. If I don't know were a Red light or Speed Camera is located how do I know which to use.

Pleas bare with me as this is my first GPS and don't know how POI's would work as I travel to various places.

I made a copy of my POIs on SD for a friend with a 255. His unit has a screen that comes up everytime he powers up his unit asking him if he wants the data copied to memory. My zumo had a checkbox to click that said "only ask this once" or something similiar. Can this screen be eliminated?

How do I link an icon to a POI file?

It seems my old StreetPilot 2720 can use either file through POI Loader. If I have the option of getting either file, which one should I use? If there are advantages to each, would someone please tell me what those advantages are?

Hi, just got this unit and am having a play with it. I wamt to load up some custom POIs, and am wondering if there is a tutorial somewhere that covers this. I've got the Garmin POI loader and I can drag and drop files via explorer on my PC.

Do the POI files go into the POI directory on the garmin? If so, can I load them up into separate folders EG poi\walmart poi\specials poi\whatever?

I asked this question once before, but I now cannot find the thread.... So excuse me while I ask it again... and I didn't find it covered in the FAQ's to my satisfaction...

Nuvi 660.... I've been using CSV files, along with BMP files for icons, and MP3 files for audio alerts...

I see some POI's are GPX format...

Since I had this problem and no one seemed to have a solution that worked for me, here's what I did. That doesn't mean it will work for you and it does not mean it won't ruin your unit.

Question: Does the traffic antenna on the 255WT (which is part of the cigarette lighter power adapter) need to be powered (plugged in to power) to work? or can you just connect it to the GPS and leave the end dangling?

I'm sure its not good for the battery to ALWAYS charge....?

I got a new 1490TLM at Christmas and today I got an "offer" or a commercial ad on my GPS as I was driving. It was annoying. What is this thing and how do I block them?

Okay, I get it. You put the Sox.exe executable in the same directory as the POI Loader if you want to include sound files for alerts and such. My questions is this: Does the sound file need to be in .wav format or is .mp3 also acceptable for the Sox.exe executable to recognize the sound file?
