I had to switch to another surface pro (windows 11 rather than 10), when I attempted to download my favorite poi files, I discovered they are not showing up in my Garmin file folder. The previous week is still reflected in my poi file folder. Any suggestions? Is the problem in my poi factory download process or is it in the downloaded file process?
Windows Settings...
Most likely your Windows settings are setup to save downloads in a specific folder.
The Windows 11 default is to save downloaded files to:
C:Users[Username]Downloads
GPSMAP 76CSx - nüvi 760 - nüvi 200 - GPSMAP 78S
Windows settings
So, what do I change it to?
u need to define the process
u need to define the process u use. When I click on one of the files in my list a file explorer screen opens and I select the folder I want it to dnld to. Once selected it defaults to that until I change it again.
As indicated, the default, until u change it, is
C:users[username]downloads. In my case it was
D:users[username]downloads since I changed my user folder to the D: drive.
Yes, I see that.
My default was set, set just like yours so I changed it to C drive instead of D drive. But it didn't make any difference. The favorite poi file is not going to where it's suppose to. When I attach my Garmin GPS to the laptop and run poi loader, it says the destination is c/user/Drake/OneDrive/Garmin/plus. But when I look in that destination, all my plus are in there , up to last week. The latest updates are not going there. It shows last week's dates. When I start to download a poi from the factory , it asks me to select a destination. I can choose Excel or various other apps or choose my own , but I chosen several different apps but none make a difference. I'm.about to give up or take to an expert. Lol

I think there is some confusion here. When you download a file from the internet, is your web browser or application being used asking for a download location? Not an app to open it up with but a physical directory/folder location of where the download file should be saved?
If using a web browser you may need to change the browser settings so it prompts for the download location rather than saving it to the default download location. Usually the browser option is something like "Ask where to save each file before downloading."
What web browser or app are you using to download the POI files from the internet?
