Why does the voice personality on my 885T revert back to "Jill - American English" every time my unit resets? Is there a way to change it so that I won't have to continually reset it to my preference?
While I'm posting; does anybody else have a problem with their unit loosing responsiveness to "some" voice commends? It seems that just about every other day my unit will get to a point where it only reponds to higher level commands ("where to" and so forth) but does not recognize any follow up commands. Resetting the unit clears it up and the it responds like a champ.

You may be speaking of a different "reset" that I am, but a Master Reset (in Garmin's terms) or a hard Reset as most people on this forum speak of, "will erase all history in the device and reset the device to factory default" according to Garmin.

My 855, another of the 8x5 series, also routinely reverts to Jill every time I remove and replace the battery and every time it randomly reboots or freezes (which occurs all too often). It is annoying for those of us who use voices other than the default Jill.
I've had no real problems with losing response to voice commands but that may be because I don't use them too often. When I do (with the radio off), I've had pretty good luck with them.

Have you tried just renaming the files on the GPS?
