I am just wondering if anyone has purchased any of these new Garmin 2012 nuvi models.
Makes me wonder if Garmin had the sense to add more internal memory to these new models so that map upgrades will go more smoothly?

Good question, I would like to know because I am in the market for a new model and looking at the new releases due out soon. Does anyone know when they will be available, the last I heard was October?

I'm wondering this myself.
I really wish they would use USB 2.0 on the newer models as well as more memory!

Since Garmin hasn't sold a Nuvi (in North America or Europe) since the 1xxx series that had less than 4GB of memory I'd suspect you'll see at least that much on all the new Prestige and Advanced models. I'd guess you'll see 8GB at least on the Prestige line and hopefully on the Advanced models as well.
Since the Essentials line (Nuvi 30, 40, 50) only have 'regional' maps they may contain less storage space.
@Mattb - all newer Nuvi models (3xxx, 23xx, 24xx and possibly others) have used USB 2 (or a least Garmin's versions of USB 2).
Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.
