Reattaching a loose serial sticker?

Hi everyone. I have kind of an off the wall question.

I replaced the battery myself in my 205 recently (it was easy). One corner of my sticker on the bottom now wont stay down. I think over time it will get worse. As I dont have any experience working with stickers and decals, does anyone have advice as to reattching it without screwing it up?

Thanks.

a very small amount

of glue. Like one of the super glues will fix the problem. be extremely careful as a little too much can seep into the seam where the cases join so you could never get the apart again.

I'd be very careful using Super Glue, it could damage the plastic or label. Also, in the future should you want to remove the label again you may have a problem.

I would go to a good hardware store (not useless Home Depot)and ask for advice on what glue to use for your application. I'm sure there are glues made specifically for decals. I'm assuming when you took it off the end may have curled a bit creating a crease.
In the future gently use a sharp razor blade or Exacto knife on one end and lift it up, then slowly peel off the entire label by hand.

glue stick

I have used the glue sticks for sealing envelops. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

3M Super 77

Something along the lines of 3M Super 77 would be ideal. It is tacky and can be removed if necessary.

Packing tape

Just trim a piece of packing tape so it just overlaps the edges of the sticker or label. Use a credit card to scrape it down firmly. use the edge of the credit card to go around the seam of the sticker and the tape.

No fuss with sprays or glues! and will work well.

As mentioned previously,

As mentioned previously, i've used a small piece of shipping tape to re-secure a label. The other option is to use 3M or Bostik spray adhesive. You can spray the tip of a pen cap clip or toothpick and then apply it to the back of the label.

The 'issue' with shipping tape is that it may pull off the serial #s down the road if that starts peeling away. The adhesive is on the sticky side already.

Scotch double stick

I would probably peel off the entire label and use Scotch double stick cellophane tape or poster tape (the kind with glue on both sides). Trim off the excess with scissors and stick it back on the nuvi. The cellophane glue will eventually dry out, but it should stick for a year or two.

glue

I would mask off the areas around the sticker and use a good spray adhesive. Just let it dry for a minute and stick the corner back down.

If you replaced the battery

If you replaced the battery for yourself I assume the warranty's up on this unit - so would the serial number tag really be helpful now anyway?

I suppose it could still be useful if the device is registered with Garmin and it is lost and found by someone who calls Garmin (maybe because it's locked... dreaming...) Interesting point, when Garmin replaced the battery on mine (recall!) they also changed the serial number.

I believe when you send a unit in for repair Garmin just sends you a different refurbished unit. They don't actually send you back your original unit. (At least that's what I recall reading in some threads on this site.)
