Pretty nice for starter...

Thanks.

I would rather buy a refurbished Nuvi 765t for $98

Walmart has refurbished nuvi 765t for only $98. It has a lot more features than Nuvi 1260t plus 4.3" LCD.

For $149 at Radio Shack I

For $149 at Radio Shack I got a new 1350LMT with free lifetime maps and traffic.

GREAT

GREAT

I'd rather shove bamboo

I'd rather shove bamboo slivers beneath my fingernails than purchase a non-widescreen unit. In fact, I do believe that 1490T units are still available for the same price so which would you rather have?

I'd much rather have a smaller unit since I can put it in my pocket. The large ones are just too big for the pocket. I would feel like it's 1989 with cell phone.. a brick in my pocket.

Also the 1350LMT has lifetime free maps which is not included with the 1490T.

Garmin nuvi 1260T Price

I would go for the 1350LMT which probably saves in the long run.

And you completely missed my point, which was that units with decent screens are available for roughly the same price point as the 1260. Your point regarding the lifetime maps is valid, but the 1350 is twice as pricey as the 1260.

A 5" screen isn't quite the brick you think it is. I carry a Dell Streak (5" tabletphone) in my pocket every day without issues, and it's larger than the 1490 even though the screen size is the same.

Wow the 1350 is twice as

No I'm in my underware and quite loose.

Back to your original comment the 1350LMT IS widescreen 4.3" not the 5" of the 1490.

Wow the 1350 is twice as pricey as 1260. Really? Where can I get a 1260 with lifetime maps for $75? I paid $149 for my 1350LMT.

Yes the 1490 is the size of brick but not the weight since I held one in the store. It is HUGE!

Yes in the late 80's/early 90's people actually carried cell phones weighing who knows how many pounds? I personally don't need a GPS that big, so you completely missed my point.

We obviously have different requirements for the best GPS. The $149 - 1350MLT or the $75 1260 if it exists is mine and the much higher in price 1490T is yours.

Also I'm in my under and quite loose.

Abstruse?

I really do not understand why in the heck you have gone off on a tangent here, given that my original question was quite explicit and clear. I can only presume that somewhere along the line you failed to understand the question itself and the intent of the question. The original question was NOT about what people believe is the "best" GPS, and at no time was any question presented by me that asked "which GPS was best".

The original question, through usage of the link provided in my first post, limits the choices to two: the 1260 or the 1490. You chose to toot your horn about the 1350 instead, completely and deliberately ignoring the fact that I mentioned the 1490 was at the same price point as the 1260, and completely and deliberately ignoring the fact that the choices were limited to either the 1260 or the 1490.

So answer the question: which of those two would you rather have, the 1260 or the 1490?

P.S. In answer to my own question, I'd take the 1490 despite your claim to it being a brick. It has more features than the 1260 and is a widescreen unit. But, I'm not in the market for a new GPS right now, having received a 1300LM earlier this year that through modification can do more than an unmodified 1350LMT can.

I figured the 1350LMT for

I figured the 1350LMT for $149 was a better deal then the posted 1260T for $99. If you stop asking about my pants and just read the other comments in this thread One even said they thought the 1350LMT would better in the long run. My comments were certainly not a tangent.

No one but you was advocating the higher priced 14XX line or limiting our options. You can set all the limits you like to justify your purchase but those of us living in this world don't limit the numbers of models. We can buy any model.
