POI projects

What are line breaks? I've only been downloading POI's for a couple of months and never had to decide between ones with or without line breaks. What kind are the others (like fuel and campgrounds) I've been downloading?

Hello. I have been searching for the Complete Auto GPS system (hardware based or software based) with 2 Very Essential features. I am still unable to find a complete GPS system that has it all!!!!!. Please suggest a unit or units that have these essential features and still offer the other Advanced Features (i.e. Spoken Street names, Bluetooth,

I'm not sure wher to look, or where to begin looking. Interstate 64 in St. louis MO will be shut down for the next 2 years in a couple of different stretches. I can't find any updates to load and find alternate routes. I live in St. louis so I am familiar with the area and do find other routes, but how do out of town travelers get this information.

when changing the name of a bmp ,so the icon will appear ,do you change it exactly ,including changing the letters bmp to csv

I was just checking the Hooters.csv and found one restaurant missing the address, by coincidence that restaurant is the "Original Hooters" it is one of the smallest of the chain and I believe the originators of Hooters still own that one and some of the others in Tampa Bay, the rest in all parts of the country and the world are franchises.

I posted the COSTCO Gas USA locations last week. I was thinking that not many people would need them all, and if you were interested, you could modify the file yourself and remove what you didn't need.

But then I was bored last night and broke the file up into location by state. Even states with only one location (like AK) gets it's own file.

I have updated the LL Bean file to include all but the North Conway, NH store. I, unfortunately, have no idea how to plot something akin to make a right at Friendly's and go 100 feet

I know many would have asked this question before me....

Instead of downloading individual POI files, is there a combined POI file available, which I can download and synch my GPS, which takes care of everything?

Will that slow down my GPS?

I am looking for more information on creating a POI. My computer has been down for a week (seems like months). I have forgotten all that everyone has sent.

Any file help would be much appreciated.

OK - I've created a few POI files and uploaded them. Out of curiosity I've check the number of downloads for each:

NJ Community Colleges - 37
COSTCO US Gas - 41
NJ Microbrewries - 24
Ocean County (NJ) Libraries - 5
Surf Taco Restaurants - 12
NJ Shore Conference Member Schools - 2

I been looking back on some of my original POI files. My first, community colleges in NJ, just got an update.

I found it was missing 8 colleges!

The updated list reflects the latest information gleened from the NJ University web site.

Please let me know of any (other) ommissions or corrections needed. Thanks!

As per your request, I updated the LLBean file to include the Fayetteville, NY store. I just uploaded the new file.

I think a POI listing of all Boy Scout camps would be a great project. A KML file for Google Earth would be fun, as well. There are hundreds of scout camps - mostly located in remote locations.

There was some talk about compiling a list of everyones favorite restaurants other then the big chains. Did this get started or is it dead in the water?
