Do we have a way to verify that all uploaded POIs are at least accurate?

Can we ask who ever uploaded them verified using any tools they like.

Those automated generator programs of location using address are good but sometimes they are not 100% bullet proof.

The problem with this automated one is your not sure that you are getting the exact place.

i want to start a project on fish and chips in so cal. if anybody has a location with good fish and chips post here.

it would be nice if someone put togehter poi for 24 hr pharmacies. only a small number of walgreens are 24 hr...

Does anybody know how I can get the following to work?
I downloaded the poi file from http://www.poi-factory.com/node/2691, uploaded to my nuvi. POI Loader says succesfully uploaded 65365. In the poi folder I see a file .gpi. But when I look in OWN Poi there are no POI.

Does anybody have an idea??

I've been looking all over and with all the GPS programs that I have I still seem to be unable to convert a CSV file to a GPX so that I can load it into either my mapsource or Topo 7.0. Is there a way to get these files either imported or converted to a GPX file? I also been reading that the files here are available in CSV of GPX format, if this is true where is the GPX file library at?

With the population explosion of GPS units, and the popularity of this forum, it is obvious there are some shortcomings in all units. We will undoubtedly see some rationalization in the industry over the coming year or two as some flounder and some succeed in the marketplace and new ideas come forward.

I would like to start a project for hardware stores. Not the Home Depots and Lowes type I mean the old fashioned mom and pop places where the actually know what they have and where it is. There are none in my area, they went out of business when the 3 home depots and 2 lowes opened up within 5 miles of each other.

We've been camping nearly every year in Peninsula State park for over 20 years, so I know the area pretty well. While perusing my Nuvi 200, I noticed that not only was much of the POI data out of date for most of Door County, many of the restaurants that had correct names and addresses, were way off the actual coordinates, sometimes by several miles.

Did somebody tackle creating waypoints/tour guides(garmin) for cities near your location. I think this is a good idea because you know what are the things you recommend that we can visit if we are on your city?

This is good for people who like to visit different cities.

one of the locations is incorrect. there are Two north hills and one of them is incorrect

and i believe its the one with coordinates of -78.9158 and 40.62117. that tommy burger does not exist

With the increasing use of GPS I believe that corporate america should take notice of this.

In particular food chains, services, dept stores, etc. because who would give us more accurate information than the company itself and better yet ALL of their locations.

this is my first time creating a custom POI. just submitted it. if there any thing wrong with it let me know. ahh i just checked again and saw that there already one but with other frozen yogurt. o well this can be the pinkberry only one and mine also has NY locations.

The PA Turnpike has a 15 MPH speed limit at all their plazas. They have radar & cameras set up at each plaza so I've started to compile a list of POI's for each plaza that would be set up as speed cameras w/a 15 MPH limit.

Currently they are not enforcing the speed limit but the tools are there!

If anyone can help out with lat & long for the plazas please send them to me.

I have few questions:

1. Do we have a way to get the road speed using mapsource? if not is there a way I could find out the current speed limit of a road without going to the actual road?

2. I recently create a speed trap but I would like to add speed notification also. Currently the file is in GPX format. Is this possible?

Anyone got a complete US POI for the Hardee's and Sonic restaurants? Burger King or Taco Bell? Jack in the Box?

Monster food .csv POI combining many, many restaurants from POI Factory. Just put them all into one file and cleaned it up by correcting spellings, adding names, deleting location by area lines that won't load correctly. I'll send it in if anyone's interested. Each restaurant is the complete list from here and several were "stitched" together if they were only listed state by state.

I downloaded and installed the file.
When clicking on it, the co-ordinates do not match where the stores really are. It does not even know the names of the streets based on the co-ordinates that are used.
I don't have Excel but re-did the file in "kml" format which is readable in POI Explorer.

If I am wrong, let me know. If you want my file, let me know.

Tonight I was struck down by a documentary about hot dog shops, so I will be going over this documentary and geocoding all the hot dog shops mentioned in this show.

Sometimes there is nothing better then a hot dog to cure that craving.
