Kansas City, Mo

First of all it is general referred to as the Greater Kansas City Area. And if a state is added it is MO since KC, MO is about 4 times the size of KC, KS. There are 38 MO and 27 KS Communities in the KC Metro area. I’m not sure what would be required, but I wouldn’t mind helping.

only made when volunteers are asking

I make the metro areas as they are requested and as people volunteer to help build them. Is this your request to have me build a Greater Kansas City, MO metro area page?

Miss POI

Would be better...

I live in Wichita - which is three hours from KC. I've been on the road so much the last couple weeks I haven't had time to leave you any feedback on this.

It would make more sense to have a KC METRO instead of the KCK link. Attractions will be in about 5 counties in two states. My CapFed files should go here.

I would then recommend a Wichita KS Metro file as well. THe cap fed file should also be here and the hog wild bbq.

If you need more info, let me know and I will try and help out. I have several files in the works.

On the Missouri side... someone be sure to include all of Kansas City's great BBQ spots and steak houses(Martin City).

Miss Poi had a hiccup

Ok I have made an adjustment to the file names and it now represents the whole Kansas City Metro area both states. Sorry about the brain freeze on this one guys.

KC Restaurant_V file error

there is an error in line 32. the column break is in the wrong place causing the coordinates to mix with the location. Do not load this into your gpsr until you edit the file, or it may lock up.

Kansas City project

I'll soon offer two POI lists:

--BP stations within a 50-mile radius of downtown Kansas City, MO
--OfficeMax and OfficeDepot (combined) locations in the KC area.

I use line breaks in the Description field so that, for example, a POI appears like this on my nuvi:

POI Name field
Address
City State
Phone
Comments

I could create one-line descriptions, however, if that's preferred. (These will be my first POIs, and I haven't yet read the relevant FAQ.)

Alleghany made a change to line 24, it was missing a comma. Did this fix the problem? Alleghany, I am getting my emails bounced back from you. Can you send me an email addy that works please.

You will need to put it into the garmin CSV format described here: http://www.poi-factory.com/garmin-csv-file-format

KC Royals

I corrected the file today, 3/23/08, to include the missing kansas radio stations. If you downloaded the file before this evening, please do it again.

Capitol Federal

I updated the CapFed file today. Now includes 90 locations, including many Walgreens in the KC Metro. I would appreciate any feedback of locations, as I am not getting to the area as often any more.

Community America

I just posted two Community America files; one for Branch Locations and another of ATM locations. I'm not sure how to get them linked to the KC Metro Area Project list.

I have finished this project. It has 109 locations, mostly in the KS/Mo area.

Miss POI, could you link it with the KC Metro Page please, thanks.

Ideas for P.O.I.'s in KCMO

-free WiFi spots
-Red light and Speed Cams
-Nightlife: Including Power and Light, Sprint Center, Concert Halls, clubs, The legends Shopping Area etc.

I wouldn't mind helping this site if there is a tutorial or something that would teach me to create these P.O.I.'s. Thanks for everyone's contributions and please let me know how I can help.

Hmmm....

How does one determine the location of red light cameras? By observation only or is there some other known source?

List

I know in time past Overland Park had a list of all the intersections they were testing. I have not lived in the metro for several years now. The star posted some of the new locations in KCMO. So I would start with the city web pages and see what they say.
