POI projects

Has anyone thought about a POI for Recycling centers? I know that most people can find out one time for their area and then they don't have to worry about it again. So in that case it's might not be very useful. The reason I'm asking is that I have no idea where one is around my cabin, and led me to think that it would be nice for the GPS to show me.

I wrote a spider to collect the lat/lon data ... and
am finding some problems with their data. Example:
They've got a CA lat/lon listed in the FL section!?!?

Does anyone know an easy/free way to batch-sort
~20,000 lat/lon pairs by state?

Has anyone started or thought about a POI that lists Burger King or McDonalds restaurants that have play areas? I have a 2 year old that needs to burn off energy once in a while. It would be great to find or start a POI that lists where the nearest place that he can run around is.

There are some wonderful Mom & Pop ice cream stores
that are fantastic alternatives to the chains ... but I
do not (yet) see a POI. Is this a worthwhile project?

I'm just getting started on these, but I am working on Speedco, and places that have truck parking, I am also working on updating the EXACT locations of the major truckstops most TA's are way off. I just updated my list of turnouts and rest areas on US54 in KS,OK,TX.
If anyone has good info on anyplace you can overnight in a truck in CA I'd like to include it in a list I'm making.

Is anyone interested in a Mom and Pop bakery/coffee shop POI? I have created one based on a few place's I've visited (6). If anyone would like, I can start a POI here. Let me know and I can start (maintain) a POI for this.

I've also include address, phone, shop hours, and website if available.

Let me know and if people know of local shops in their area, I can add them to my list to post.

Does anyone have a POI file of all Ford car & truck dealers here in the US?

I would like one file that is for the enitre country and not broken down by state.

As I travel across the US, it would be nice to do a quick search and find the nearest Ford dealer.

I was looking for a POI of Wisconsin bike trails for my own personal use. Since I don't see one, I would like to start a project to make one.

This is my first POI file, so I simply started by downloading GeePeeEx and purchasing some Wisconsin Bike maps.

Do you have any suggestions for me? Does anyone want to help? I'm planning on doing it in GPX format.

Also, Does registering your Garmin give you special perks? I tried to register and this unit has already been registered.

I'm going to work on geocoding these stores. Someone had asked for this POI and someone else was kind enough to put all the stores into an Excel spreadsheet and send it to me.

I was wondering if anybody had a file already made for all of the gun stores and ranges in NC? I searched but cant find any. One for the whole US would be even more useful as it would help everybody.

Also one for pawn shops would be great also since they double as gun stores a lot of times.

Is anyone perhaps in the works on a project for Independant Banks in Michigan. Our TCF Bank was bought out by Independant and I am hoping someone out there is interested in making POI's for the ATM's?

I want to post a location to the Cabrillo Lighthouse.San Diego, CA.

This is the farthest southwest point in the continental US.
There is Whale watching in the winter, as the whales migrate south for the winter.
Tide pools are a short walk from the lighthouse; where starfish, crabs, ect. can be viewed at low tide.

Being brand new to the factory and my first gps, what would you folks suggest as essential POIs for my shiny new garmin?

Miss POI

I have this list of 42 local addresses that have nice Christmas displays. I thought it would be simple to create and download a route using them but that does not seem to be the case. I typed them all into a tab-delimited file and used batchgeocode.com to return their coordinates. I then used POILoader to load that file as a custom POI set.

There should be POIs that show gas stations that carry diesel fuel. Anyone know where to lead me? Sometimes when driving, & in desperate need of diesel fuel, I have difficulty located a station.

I just uploaded a St. Louis Christmas Light Display POI. It's small, perhaps others would like to add to it. On a side note, I put it under Outdoors, but asked Miss POI, if perhaps, we could a new category for Seasonal POI's, such as Christmas, Halloween, etc. The ones I added are all private, not commercial displays.
