POI projects

Hi Folks,

I can get this file to display on my Nuvi 660.

There's only one entry that displays when I look at the file on the Nuvi even though there are NUMEROUS entires in the file. Any ideas on this?

Hello. I was considering creating POI's for the various state and county parks in my home area. The plan is to include points like park entrances, restrooms, camping areas, ranger stations, trail heads, canoe launches, dump stations, and picnic areas.

I was just wondering if including things like playgrounds, observation towers, and parking areas will be too much?

How much is too much???

I thought is worth mentioning this site does in my opinion an outstanding job of providing not only information but answering questions. This is especially good for new users--I am one. I belong to other sites for different things and not one has the quality of this site. Keep up the good work. We appreciate the effort.

I'm working on a POI file for Colorado Brewpubs and Microbreweries. Looks like the initial list will be a bit over 100 locations throughout the state. I am using MapSource to create waypoints and then I will save them as a .gpx file for the site.

OK, so this may sound like one of those impossible tasks and one of those things that changes consistently based on weather, phone provider, model of phone, etc, but in conversations with friends of mine that travel throughout Iowa at least, we have common gripe areas.

Wondering if anyone has taken a stab at tackling the Trucker's Friend Truckstop directory? I'd like to put poi's for all the truck stops that aren't the big 5(since i'm probably like everyone and like having icons/alerts for these): Flying J, Pilot, Petro, TA and Love's. Anyone in? We could split it by region, as there are 6,600 entries.
I'd like to put a line of info for:

A new market research report (I don't have full report) from ABI Market research (http://www.abiresearch.com/products/market_research/UGMP/AI~) points to the emerging trend that "customer-generated" maps and POIs may actually wipe-out the traditional map business in the future....wow.

I've just uploaded a POI of all MLB affilated Double A (AA) ballparks. Just one small problem - I left an ampersand (&) in the file for AT&T Park, and you might having trouble loading it.

I'll update the file as soon as it posts.

Is there a way to add a second file to an existing file location?

I already have business locations.gpx on one page. I would like to have a nearby truck stop file on the same page so it would be easy to find for the users of the business locations file.

Am I making any sense?

Hi Folks,

Just curious if anyone has created a POI file for all the McDonald's in the USA or at least in California and Nevada? My reason for asking is, I do a lot of traveling and you can ALWAYS find McDonald's in one state of another and it would be handy to know where some of them are located.

I downloaded the POI loader from Garmin, then downloaded airport files from here. I connect the Garmin to the computer, launch the POI loader, Choose "install new POI to your device", but I keep getting the message " There was a problem copying data to the data card. The device is not ready".

What am I doing wrong?

I looked at several of the posted POI's, including ones for biggies like Wal-Mart and Costco, and only one, the one for the Gander Mountain stores, has a download count shown (99 times as of this moment). Aren't all of the POI's supposed to have their download numbers shown? I can't imagine that all of those that I looked at have never been downloaded. I'd be disappointed if that were the case.

can sombody make a poi for the state parks in new mexico or point me in the right direction on where to find the state parks for new mexico.

New mexico has awsome state parks and are really cheap at 14.00 a nite

I am new to this site and I recently attempted to create a file for myself. The file works, however I do receive an error msg. The msg reads the following:
"There is a data format error on line 29 of file c:\
The data earlier will be written, but no more data can be read from this file."
My file ends at line 29.
What am I doing wrong with my .csv file?

I noticed a Price Chopper on Staten Island and after looking at the address it should be upstate. The address is correct but the lat/long coordinates are wrong.

phydx2 posted the POI but has no contact so I'll post the update here. Line 46 currently has:
