EXTREME Newbie question on POI download/upload Garmin 670

I downloaded the POI loader from Garmin, then downloaded airport files from here. I connect the Garmin to the computer, launch the POI loader, Choose "install new POI to your device", but I keep getting the message " There was a problem copying data to the data card. The device is not ready".

What am I doing wrong?

After you connect the Nuvi to the Computer is the unit seeing the Card as a drive? If not you may have a invalid SD card. Try to go to my Computer on your desktop and see if you can find the Nuvi and the data card.

Write Protect On?

May also want to check the write protection switch on the card to see if it it turned on.

Make sure POI LOADER is

Make sure POI LOADER is LOOKING at the GARMIN NUVI DRIVE and NOT the SD CARD SLOT unless YOU HAVE AN SD CARD in the SLOT. If you don't have an SD card installed you must load the POI files onto the Garmin Nuvi's built in memory.

I have an SD card installed and when I launch POI loader is shows my SD card as drive "M" but if I don't have the card in it has to look for the Garmin internal memory / drive.

OK. I feel like a complete

OK. I feel like a complete idiot. I was letting the default (E drive) select instead of scrolling to G: Garmin. (I do know better wink

So, now I have a confirmation that 2k some odd files have been loaded.

Next question, (and probably a really stupid one)the 670 is supposed to come with preloaded European maps. Since I'm in the U.S. now, how do I make sure I have museums & such in Paris and Rome loaded when I can't even pull up the maps from here? I would assume the major ones would be covered but I've learned not to assume.

Your user's manual will tell you how to activate your European maps, set your location to Paris, and search for museums nearest that location.

Trip to europe

I was in Frence last september and you will have all the museums in the card that you bought. You can also check for the "metro" as they are all in there. Very useful in Paris as you will probevbly make all your deplacements in metro. GPS is a must when you go there. have a nice trip.

Thanks guys. I'm sure I'll
