I've just uploaded a POI of all MLB affilated Double A (AA) ballparks. Just one small problem - I left an ampersand (&) in the file for AT&T Park, and you might having trouble loading it.
I'll update the file as soon as it posts.
I am working on a Single A (A) file. There are many more "A" teams, so I will break the project up into league affiliations (the first being South Atlantic League, North and South Divisions).
Some of these fields use a vanity address (ie - "1 Line Drive), and the locations were verified via maps.yahoo.com. Other parks are so new, it looks like only a cornfield exists at the given address.
I've just uploaded the Single "A" South Atlantic League ballparks. This is the league of my local Lakewood (NJ) Blueclaws.
For both files, I have the original csv/txt file without lat/lon. This file contains:
Please let me know, via the contact page, if you would like this raw file to GPX yourself.
The format of the GPX is:
TEAM NAME (MLB) STADIUM NAME, ADDRESS
The (MLB) is an abbreviation for the affiliated major league baseball team, ie - NYY=New York Yankees, MYM=New York Mets, etc. If any are not clear, let me know and I'll update/clarify.
42 days until opening day!
Well, I am obviously looking forward to the start of baseball! Ever since the "AA" Trenton Thunder started playing in NJ in the mid-90s, I've been a big fan of minor league ball. I've only seen one mention/request in the forums for a POI of minor league teams, but I am hoping there is more interest in the national pastime than that!
There are a number of different levels of minor league baseball. I am concentrating on the Major League Baseball (MLB) affiliated Minor League Baseball (MiLB) teams. There are, from bottom to top:
I started with all "AA" teams, but broke that out to Eastern League (home of the Thunder). I then worked on South Atlantic "A" teams (home of my Lakewood Blueclaws), moved to Appalacian Rookie League, the Arizona Rookie League, and finally the California "A" Advanced League.
If you have a local minor league team, and are intersted in a POI of that team's league, respond to this thread. Otherwise, I am just going to go down the list of remaining leagues in alphabetical order.
I hope you keep updating this, all minor league parks would be great.
