Announcing : Truck Stops:Independent

Wondering if anyone has taken a stab at tackling the Trucker's Friend Truckstop directory? I'd like to put poi's for all the truck stops that aren't the big 5(since i'm probably like everyone and like having icons/alerts for these): Flying J, Pilot, Petro, TA and Love's. Anyone in? We could split it by region, as there are 6,600 entries.
I'd like to put a line of info for:

Parking: NP (None), SM,MD,LG or XL
Showers: SH (Showers for men & Ladies), SM (Men only) or NS (No Showers)

So the top line of the Title would read, for example:

Headco Truck Stop: SM/SM

anyone in?

Independent Truck Stops

What form is the list in right now? A file? Printed pages? Is there Lat and Lon data included?

Independent Truck Stops

The "original" directory is printed page with address and info. Looks like verifying with google earth is going to be required for lat/lon info
I've discovered that the POI file Cat Scales is a pretty good start for some of it, the remainder might be able to include speedway POI and a few others...

I hate to throw cold water on your great idea, but the directory is copyright protected by TR Information Publishers. If you want to take info from the book, you'll have to get permission from the publisher first.

Trucker's Friend Truck Stop Directory

Just for grins, call the publisher. Maybe all they might want is a little publicity and credit.

Getting lat and lon is no big deal. I fed a large number of addresses, via copy and paste from excel, into a website I found, and then pasted the returned the lat and lon back into excel.

The list would be a GREAT benefit to a lot of truckers and RV'ers.

General Info

I am not sure how it could be protected data. If you did not associate their name with it and used it as a source for the data. That guide is pretty handy, alot better than the little pocket guide one that is out there.

not true

that copywriye proyecyion is only for printed applications. the addresses are free for the taking. whos to say you didnt get the addresses from other sources. besides. its for your oun use. they cant stop that unless you are trying to sell the info

.

Where did you get that information from?

Copyright protection is definitely not just for printed applications.

Try this..........
