Introductions
Greetings everyone!
Just wanted to introduce myself, just recently found this site while wandering around the net looking for something else. I did not realize all the other things my little Nuvi 350 could for me until I started reading here. Cool stuff...

Garmin Nearest Cities
Does anyone understand the order in which "near" cities are sorted? For example, if you type in Boston, it seems to start out alphabetically, but then Boston MA and other Bostons are not in order. Doesn't sort by distance either. I'm confused.

Chit Chat Thread for the week of May 12th 2008
This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.
Have fun...
This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

An idea for GPS makers
Since people are using them more around town as a radar/red-light warning system, picture viewer, mp3 player, how about taking advantage of the drive space (and or additional memory card) and incorporate a forward facing video camera.

Hello All at the POI Factory!!!
Hi all, been gone from here for quite some time. Business has kept me traveling an insane amount of time, so haven't been real active with POI's lately.
Just wanted to drop in and see how everyone is doing and say "Howdy" to some good friends!!
Hope you all had a happy and healthy Mother's Day!
Warmest regards to the POI Factory community,
Robin Huggins

How do you use your GPS in your home town?
Hi all, I just curious, how do you use your GPS in your home town?
do you plug in a destination, even though you know how to get there?
do you just view the map?
do you not even use it?
for me, I usually plug in a destination, even though I certainly know where I'm going and how to get there. (lots of recalculating!!!)
but nice to know the arrival time....

Happy Mothers Day 2008
A Mother's Love
A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .

In your opinion what is the top/best GPS unit?
I have a c530 and would like to know what unit in your opinion is the overall bang for your buck? Before I get those individuals who say well it depends if you travel or if your using it for business purposes etc. My question more specifically is what would be the best unit for both personal use (vacation, pleasure) or even for business purposes?

My Ideal GPS
Lots of sales going on now, it seems, so I think I will "upgrade" my Magellan 4000. I like it well enough EXCEPT that it doesn't have TTS. It says: Right turn in one mile, instead of Right turn on Elm Street in one mile. You wouldn't think that is a big deal until you have tried to use it for a while. In some circumstances it can be VERY important.

Add a bluetooth adapter to your GPS
I just saw this tutorial on Instructables. It shows you how to install a bluetooth adapter to your GPS so you may hear it via a bluetooth headset. I'm not brave enough to try it, but others might be more adventurous.

Contributors of the week 2008-04-28
This week we are recognizing LDoyle and Pulltabmike.
Both of these individuals helped me this week in the Red light camera file cleanup efforts in the Baltimore, MD and Plano, TX areas. I really appreciate the time that you both spend driving around confirming the data that I sent to you.

Did Anyone See the Drabble Comics from Last Week?
In the Drabble comic strip, Mrs. Drabble bought a GPS unit. Ralph doesn't take an immediate liking to it.
