I have a garmin 650, I have loaded POI files on both my unit as well as my standard SD card. I noticed when accessing files off my SD card it take a few seconds longer to load then files loaded directly on my unit. My question to the group has anyone used the high speed SD card and does it make a difference compared to a standard SD card?

I have a garmin c530 and I would like to know if I could have alert sounds with my bmp symbols with my POIs? My c530 is not a mp3 player....so I don't know if this will work or not.

I often fly cross country, Syracuse to San Diego When I
look out,I never know where we are. Is there a portable GPS that I could bring along and that would locate me on a map. I always thought it would be fun to know what we are looking at when we fly at 25000 feet.

OK, I haven't been online for quite some time so I appologize is this topic has already been discussed. I am wondering if any of you photographers out there are collecting POI's for intersting photo opportunities in and around your local areas. Currently in my travels, I will visit a gift shop or tourist center and collect some post cards.

I checked the FAQ and didn't see the answer to this question there but I've been known to be brain dead at times so please bear with me.

Since I'm pretty new here I have a question regarding coordinates. Is there a preferred format on this site when referencing a location?

Example:

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Went to Garmin.com last night and instead of clicking on one of the usual links I clicked on a Red Car "Ready To Roll" in lower right of screen.

Imagine my surprise when I actually got something and that something was a Napolean like male and links to a Garmin commercial and how it was made, etc.

If you haven't seen it. Well worth the few minutes it takes.

Anyone have a file of these? I would like to have one. If not I'll prolly make one.

I downloaded the Bart SF file and when I opened it in my poi folder, there were 42 stations but when I loaded it to my 680, with the rest of my pois using poi loader, it loaded the file but only had one station that showed..the 12st Oakland City Center station. Anyone experience this or have any thoughts as to why?

is garmin poi loader the only one for down loading files or is there others

Is there a way to get RSS feed or email notifications if a POI file I am interested in is updated? Its nice to remain up to date on POI's

Hi has anybody used or seen easy gps by topografix free gps software for your garmin gps just wondering if it is easy to use and can it be put on to a garmin 650 gps.
