Website for Garmin vehicles and much more

I remember quite some time ago finding that the various websites offering custom Garmin vehicles and gone defunct and figured that was the end of them.

I just happened to be helping my brother look for a Garmin pickup truck icon, hoping Garmin had one available through Garmin Express' Utilities but the google search offered another site as well. Lo and behold, there is still a source for Garmin vehicles and so much more, albeit mostly helpful to those in Europe. I did download a vehicle and installed it to a nuvi and the vehicle installs and works. Has anyone else known about this site? (Apparently from the "About" tab, there's also a Tomtom version as well).

https://www.garminheaven.com/

PS: it may be some security settings I have on both my Chrome and Brave browsers but I wasn't able to get the download button to work. By opening a private window in the browser, the vehicle download worked.

In reading the site's "About" tab, it may be the "commentware" issues that forced me to use a Private browser tab:

Garminheaven.com is a website dedicated to garmin gps content only. It has been created by the same people from tomtomheaven.
This site provides free content, but has a “commentware” approach.
Commentware means that you can download thing from garminheaven only if you let feedbacks on each article of the blog.
Welcome here !

GarminHeaven.

Thanks CraigW. Interesting site and new to me as well.

Interesting

Thanks for posting. Reminds me of the vehiclesforgarminnuvi website although this one is a little more recent.

...a predominance of French cars!

Thanks for posting CraigW

Really by the time it is on your GPS the icon is so small it doesn't matter the make.
But what I like is that you see the icon in color and with sunroof.

A curmudgeon.

I used to have a lot of fun with vehicles, voices, changing the TTS prompts, etc on my Garmin devices. But this old fart has become a curmudgeon and I pretty much use my Garmin devices in plain vanilla default mode. razz My vehicle is the standard blue 3D triangle. That said, it is nice to know that there is still a site that provides some customization for those who want to do it.

You sound like me when I decided to stop adding the Large JCV file to my nuvi 855, then when I decided the 855 would only get whatever map update Garmin says would fit rather than cloning and using a SD card.

I will still look into a different vehicle and always add all English language voices to my devices so I can hear Australian English with a feminine voice though. laugh out loud

The really ambitious will download one of the custom vehicles, then go through the effort of changing the vehicle's color to match what they own.

A cumudgeon here as well...

I have *always* used the default blue triangle. I know what my car looks like and don't need to see it on my GPS as well in all it's "glory".

Still it's a good website for this type of customization. Lots of French stuff there...since I believe it's French-based. GPSPassion was also run by a Frenchman (Guillaume) although the content not as French.

Ha, you just reminded me why I looked and found the new site and started this thread.

I gave one of my spare older backup GPS devices (a nuvi 2460) to a person who shall remain nameless after his older one was drowned in a lake...along with the pickup truck that also drowned while trying to launch a boat.

I made sure the map and my favorite Custom POIs were updated on the unit before mailing it. I then looked for a custom pickup truck file which took me to the new site, then decided I'd just look at the vehicles available in the 2460, and switch to the most annoying one. twisted The 2460 was then switched from the default automobile to an eagle with flapping wings. In my defense, I did offer a guide to the optional Garmin vehicles available through Garmin Express and this new site.

With the flapping-winged eagle, I then would know when he first used it and a few days later, I got a call asking why the "vehicle" on the device was a dragonfly.

It's apparently grown on him and he's sticking with the eagle either because he likes it or that he's too lazy to switch to something else.

Neat Stuff

Thanks for the link. BTW, the download button didn't work for me in Chrome either but right clicking on the download button and Save Link As worked fine. Grabbed my vehicle. smile
