progress on POI database module
Pieces for the new POI database module are all starting to come together. I've been working on it for nearly two weeks, and I hope to release some basic functionality by the end of this week.
The first release won't be especially impressive, but it will provide a solid foundation for future enhancements.
Key features in the first release:
* manage a list of POI TYPES and associated POI locations

Here's a suggestion
Here's a suggestion for way down your wish list - a chat box for active users. Something where you can interface with them directly outside of the forums... just a suggestion...

Your Installations
This has more than likely been brought up before but it would be a great addition to the site to be able to link images of installations. For instances you could explain your installation then link an image from imageshack. The radar detector forum I constantly frequent has several threads going of types of mounts along with photos and how the unit was wired. JM Would you like to try this or would you say it would be too much work at the current time.

Mixing POI's on SD card
Another dumb question I suppose, but.... can you mix POI's on a SD card with Mp3's, and work or use them off the card without loading them into the GPS itself? For instance, Red Light locations, Mp3's, and POI's.

RSS Feeds
The POI Factory discussion forums have RSS feeds available. I haven't used RSS much, but some of you might find this useful. If you decide to give it a try, please share your results.

Loaded c330
I just bought a c330 with Mapsource loaded. Will POI's help me in any way? Also, what size SD card would I need in the card slot?

How to do transparency
How do i do transparency on the poi icons. I read that you have to use the rgb value 255,0,255 and i have tried that but it didn't work. I use photoshop and maybe there is a specific color profile i need to use or something. Someone please help. I hate the square that it leaves and want to remove it (for when i use an exclamation mark and want to remove the surrounding stuff).

Thanks Ms POI
My first post and just wanted to take the time to thank Ms. Poi and all the contributors here for their advice and donations of their POIs. I am a first time GPS owner, Garmin Nuvi 660, and found your POIs very useful and fun to play with. Hopefully in the future I will learn enough to contribute as well.
Thanks again for this wonderful resource.

This site is great
Hey everyone. Just wanted to say that it is great that so many other people out there find gps devices cool. Honestly, my story is, i get lost many times (and disoriented) when driving and often i have to call my father and ask where i need to go. I also have a very bad memory when it comes to specific names like people's names and road names. I got a gps device to alleviate my many problems. And i got it because i love to go hiking and do all kinds of outdoors stuff. I like getting lost in the woods but i hate getting lost on the road. When i am on the road i like to get to my destination safely. I love driving and will enjoy it more since i have a gps now. I actually plan on taking off work for 9 total days and driving north (i live in Georgia) half way through the week and then driving home. I would have never done that without a gps system. Well i would have done it but i would have to plan out everything i wanted to do. Now with the gps system i can get off track and do whatever i want and know the gps will still get me home safely.

Mobile phone gps units
I would be really interested to hear about peoples experiences with the mobile phone GPS units. How well do they work and are they easy to use? Do you like them better then the standard units?

Traveler's POI data
I am a nuvi newbie. I would like POI files for Cracker Barrel, Flying J, Applebee's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Hampton Inns, etc for reference as I travel east of the Mississippi. What is are good sources for this type of POI files?
