MSN DIRECT TRAFFIC

I switched to msn-direct last month. Has attractive menus of various info. I find things kinda slow though with the updating(I DO leave it plugged in). I have seen flash flood icons on the main screen and when pressed lots of map info, yet I have NEVER heard any traffic text or audio at the main gps screen. I also rememeber "not" seeing any traffic icons on the main screen( only the traffic screen has the info)plus have never been automatically re-routed because of traffic. I have even chosen a route that is showed "slow" traffic, yet told me my chosen route was traffic free! The unit that came with the nuvi 760, TMC, at least did speak and show things on occasion. Anyone else? :)BTW I do have traffic checked under "avoidances" on the nuvi's menu.

I have the 780 and experience the same. It seems that the updates arrive after you have already passed the heavy traffic. I never have any voice for the updates. I must press traffic and it will let you know if the route you are on has traffic.
My problem might be that I only get two green bars for MSN Direct. Maybe that is the problem. My three month subscription ends next month and I probably will extend, but don't know if the one year or max will be better.

I bought the Nuvi 780 a few

I bought the Nuvi 780 a few days ago. So far, I'm not impressed with the traffic display for the same reasons you describe. I can get it from XM so it's no big deal. I do like the gas and POI features. I can't/won't leave it plugged in and visible - I want it to be there when I get back. I replaced a C330 and I'm happy with the 780 for several reasons - traffic just isn't one - so far.

I DO NOT leave the Nuvi in the vehicle LOL, I understand that the fm/charging cable with its internal battery continues to receive data if left plugged in! And you are coreect,,it would not be there when you return smile

MSN Direct

I have been automatically rerouted because of traffic with MSN Direct on my NUVI 680. I have seen the traffic icons on the main screen and have driven by the "accident". MSN Direct has never given me an audible alert in any way.
