Chit Chat Thread for the week of June 2nd 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Gas prices

Hello group.

I am planning on three week vacation tkaing me from the Denver area to Wyoming, across the country to Massachusetts and New Hamposhire and back to Denver. With the RV it will save on hotels and a rental car, but I think I will break even with the gas cost. Oh well, at least I will be able to stop when I want, I have my own personal seat, and I don't have to go through any security lines. Of course, I also don't have to deal with the friendly people of the TSA, and that in itslef is worth the extra $1,000 or so for gas.

Not leaving until 28 June, so hopefully they will drop a bit since the Memorial Day weekend is past, but I doubt it.

Take care, and we'll see you on the road.

Alan

P.S. Is there a thought of putting a spell checker on these discussion threads?

Dual Screens....

Ok update on Miss POI's new level of nerdiness.

I have found that when I work, I have 5 to 7 windows open at once. This got to be very confusing so Jon has now set me up with dual screens.

This is one of the coolest things ever (besides GPS of course). I am able to have many windows open now and not feel so confined to one screen.

It is now 11:18 at night here and all I want to do is work and play with this new setup.

I guess I should turn in now, I have lots of icons that bobkz sent in that need to be uploaded tomorrow;)

See ya all in the mornin,

Miss POI

Cool...

I have 4 LCD'S hooked up to my two machines.....

Uses a Dual DVI with KVM to do the work...Well...the golden question is what do I do with 4 screens...

The obvious answer is ...I am a programmer....

Well have been working crazy for couple weeks now and following up on Obama/Clinton and Macain drama...was an interesting week....

Just a general question. How

Just a general question. How active does one have to be to get a windmill? I've been trying not to randomly post, and be a contributing active member, but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

As a side note, this has become my favorite site. You people are great!

I think you just have to post at least once a week in three out of five weeks.

Gas Prices and school bus travel

We will be hit on both fronts. School Districts
plan for the school year near end of prior year the rack price on fuel keeps going up which means so of the schools trips may be cut. In NY we are paying
about 4.03 - 4.13 a gallon.

I use a garmin 350 can I plan trip on excel and sort
them to get the best travel with out wasted miles??

Careful for what

I would be very careful in what you ask for, already had one named storm. I lived in Florida for 10 years Hurricanes run me off, plus it's just to dang HOT in the summer. The snowbirds have it right, Get out before Easter come back after Thanksgiving.

BBQ event in New York

Hi everyone. If anyone happens to be in NYC/Manhattan this weekend, and has several hours to kill, you may want to swing by Madison Square Park to witness this year's Big Apple BBQ Block Party. I've gone several times and can attest to it being fun (albeit somewhat chaotic) but am skipping it this year.

Be careful, it's going to be a very hot two days here in NYC.
