Creating POI files

When using business addresses to generate a poi file through Google Earth, etc. the actual business can be quite some distance from the coordinates that go into the file.
Has anyone taken this into account and if so what did you do?
I have driven around some malls for a long time before I found the business I had on gps.....

I was having difficulty with the description not showing up on the POI EDIT software made from a .cvs file I built. Just some squiggly lines showed up in POI EDIT.....<--break-->
Looked over the .cvs file using .xls and could see nothing wrong.

I really have't seen one that works yet. I would like to be able to do a search with google or mapquest and be able to compile all the search results as a POI instead of having to add one at a time.

Sorry if this is very basic, but I am a bit confused about adding an image to a POI location. Can I use one image for a small number of related locations?

I would like to flag CNG fuel stops in Phoenix, AZ with a bitmap image of the CNG sticker seen on the rear of our vehicles.

I loaded some POI's on the Garmin 350 with no problem. I then had to delete them as I wanted to redo some. After I deleted all of them I loaded one and when I went to my Custom Poi's and tapped Customs Poi's I had all the Poi's but I don't have a seperate dir for each poi example: Sams Club then the poi's inside, Mc Donalds then the poi's inside.

Hi I just made a poi and used garmin poi loader to load to my 650 gps it says I have 25 poi loaded where do I go to see what I have loaded on my gps. thank you lucky

I appoligize if this was asked before, but is there an easy way to add distance alerts to a poi file (other than the .25 mile redlight alert)?

I just check and address in four different coordinates programs and got a different answer each time. Could drive you crazy. Used batchconverter,yahoo, google earth and geocoding. Which is the preference of the group?

Can someone guide me on how to make custom pois (red light cameras & speed traps)? Thank you

I set up some POI's for the business I'm in, on my Nuvi 260. It works really well. I have too much info to display on the front poi screen, so all I need to do is press "more" and the data displays perfectly.

HOWEVER, when I went to load the poi's on a Garmin 330c there is no "more" button to access the additional information.

I'm kinda lost here. I'm trying to update a POI file and for some reason, it does not work at all... The GPS unit is a Zumo 550... Here is what I'm trying to import:

This may seem odd, but I want to prevent my nuvi 650 from calculationg POI proximity. I have loaded about 200,000 utility assets in my unit as custom POI's. My goal is to enter any asset number and get driving direction to that asset (the same process you use when you enter a street address and get driving directions to that address).

I came across a software today for deleting duplicate POI entries. You can set the distance between POIs before they are considered duplicates. I haven't used it yet, but thought someone might want to give it a try. It is open source.

I am just learning to create POI files and as some of my work will be done on a Linux system, I need some more info on what constitute a "Linebreak"

On Windows systems, a linebreak is actually a series of 2 Characters. Namely Linefeed & Carriage return (aka: LF+CR). These are invisible to you but results in the following text to begining at a new line.

I created a poi file and decided to use the multi-line format for the comments (using quotes). I have a Nuvi 350 on which it looks fine, but does this cause problems for other models as far as compatibility. In other words, should I not put breaks in the file if I plan to upload my file for other to use?

I recently signed up for POI factory and have imported several categories to my nuvi 750. One of the biggest problems I found with this is that many locations don't show up or show up wrong. I am still studying all of the FAQ's and methodology of uploading locations as well as making corrections to locations that no longer apply.
