Zumo 550

I am looking at replacing my StreetPilot with the Zumo 550. I wanted to know if anyone has one and if they are happy with it. I was looking at using it in my auto and liked the idea of xm-traffic and the rechargable battery so I could mount it to my bike and use it that way as well. Any feedback would be great.

Zumo 450

I've just received my Zumo 450, and while it's not got all the bells and whistles the 550 has, I am planning on using it on my bike as well. I've been using a GPS V for several years on the bike and decided it was time to upgrade. I will tell you the RAM mount and wiring was all extremely easy to install, I did mine in about 45 minutes and 2 beers last night. I've not had a chance yet to get out on the road with it, but will let you know what I think when I have.

Just in playing around with it, I like the color screen and the speed, memory and next generation features the 450 has, but I do miss a few of the features of the GPS V, particularly the user definable fields on the screens and access to more information, like elevation, sunrise and sunset times, that it features.

garmin 550

I just purchased a Garmin 550 and love it over my Garmin V. Added XM, works well in cars with ipod audio inputs, does not modulate FM channels so an external sound system is needed. On my Softail Deuce it works well. Can't hear the XM radio.

Just wondering how you can hear a gps over the roar of loud pipes and wind noise.. Do you use an earpiece and if so is it wireless? My pipes are loud and the wind noise is also a factor.

Just Wondering..

This is a fantastic unit for both cars and bikes. You won't need to worry about charging the battery for your bike. It comes with its own bike mount and is easily wired so you'll always be connected. Get a bluetooth headset and you'll be able to listen to music as well as direction while you ride.

I Have have very loud V&H Longshots. A good pair of wireless earpieces with the 550 (Motorola S9) makes all the difference. Even the wind is no longer an issue.

Nice picture!! I used to live in Chesapeake and worked at Norfolk General. The mermaids give the location away, when one sees them, they know Norfolk right away, esp. if you live there. I was just down this past weekend.

Harley fuel door mount

bac-doc I have a 02 ultra and am getting a Zumo 550 for it and seen your post. Looks as though you have an Ultra also, how did you wire it to your stero? I was gonna plug into the plug for the cd on the HD radio. But didn't know if you knew about the new fuel door mount that Kuryakyn has for mounting GPS's. It is listed under new products, I have ordered one but not showing available until Oct.

Plug into Stereo

I have a 07 FLHTC. You are correct on where to plug for sound. I just used a speaker cable for a computer, plugged into speaker output on mount and AUX plug on stereo. It works just fine, music and navigation.

H-D fuel door mount

Has your mount been deleivered yet? I have an 07 Ultra. Looking for a good place to mount the 550. Don't like the look of the handel bar mount. If you have it installed let me know how you like it.

Zumo 550

I've had a Zumo 550 for over a year and love it. It works great on the bike and as a bonus it works great in the car too.

Zumo 550

I mounted a Zumo 550 on my 2008 HD Street Glide. It came with a Ram Mounts GPS Handlebar mount. I really like the 550. It has some nice motorcycle screens and you're able to download POIs. Its rugged, waterproof, well built and portable. Worth every penny. I’m really happy with it.

Handlebar mount for gps

Hey there, I have a handlebar mount on my 03 ultra and love where its at. I armed over and up to avoid the HD escort mount and NOT block the fuel gauge. I will be the first to tell you that my set up is VERY busy to look at, but I like the gps almost in the middle of my windshield where I do not have to look down and take my eyes off the road. My wife "hates" the gps, she said I outsourced her.LOL. Ride safe, 20ultra03

Love my 550!

I wanted to also mention that I LOVE my Zumo 550...
