Garmin talk

I have my vehicle set for the default arrow. I know, NO creativity . When navigating, it seems to me that the tip of the arrow, is NOT my location on the map. If I zoom way in, it appears that my location corresponds to a point that lies 2/3 of the way down in the towards the bottom of the arrow. Does this seem right? Does anyone else see this?

Anyone out there use any of the handheld Garmins like the eTrex or any of their other models? I'm thinking of getting one for fishing, hiking, etc. and don't thing my C330 would be much help off the beaten path.

I have a GARMIn & am NEW to the POI thing other then custome Addresses I have loaded... How do I preserve those & easilly add a bunch of new ones???

Any tricks un updating them quickly once installed???

I have uploaded the normal gpi files from the poi downloaded. What is interesting is that the capacity of the files uploaded is 13.7mb but when it gets to the poi file on the garmin is is listed as 1.2kb. I do not understand this?

Has anybody ever purchased a refurbished gps and if so has anybody had a bad experience with the unit?

Anyone noticed that the 350 sound louder than the Nuvi 360. I had them side by side and 350 is much louder than 360. I just wonder if one of my 360 had bad speaker.

Of course, this probably makes sense..but I was still suprised when I noticed I was receiving traffic updates even though I forgot to plug the receiver into the cigarette lighter...

Caution - Noobie Alert!!!!!!

I've recently bought a nuvie 650(upgraded from 350) & love the widescreen!

However, while reading the forums, I've noticed that others have upgraded their 350/6xx's with the latest firmware(like 4.10). My 650 has North american NT 2008 maps(the latest one), but the firmware is only 3.90!!!

On my Nuvi 350, the road I am being routed on is pink or purple. Other roads are red, orange and gray. What do the red and orange represent?

I have a nuvi 350 and I have multiple vehicle icons on it. Can anyone tell me how to get them off my nuvi?

First, an admission. I’m new at this and not having a tremendous amount of luck trying to find all the answers my questions (I’ve looked thru the FAQ’s and have done searches on this forum, but I’ve haven’t found everything I need to know).

How did those of you with Nuvi 760s get them already? Most vendors, including Amazon.com, won't even have them available until Jan. '08. Tiger Direct claims that they won't be available until later this month.

Okay, check this out. When the 680 first came out a number of us on this board were wondering if the TMC traffic receiver would work on the 680 which comes with the MSN traffic receiver.

I'm asking this question on behalf of my father who has a Garmin 660. His recent experience has been that the unit appears to be approximately 3 blocks off. Is this common?

Yesterday, I upgraded to the latest firmware on my Nuvi 200 and also loaded some custom POI's.

To plan my trip sometime I need to know the distance and route between the two address. How can I do that. GPS tells me the route only from my current location.

Additional question : Is it possible to keep log of the route I followed during my journey ?

whats the Attention Tones setting on my nuvi 360 for?

Just picked mine up today from Circus City. It is certainly different some I like some not a big deal. If you already have one of the 600's. You might want to wait and get some more opinions.

It does NOT support WAAS (even though a LOT of the on-line merchants claim it does). I am running it side by side with my 680 and will post more tomorrow or later this evening.

Changes made from version 5.70 to 6.00:

Fixed problem with the same map existing in two regions
Fixed issue with backlight when position is north of the Arctic Circle
Fixed issue with ejecting device from a Mac computer
Fixed issue where the avoidance option 'Unpaved Road' was not being saved
