Dumb Q

OK, time for a dumb question: having a nuvi 6xx/7xx unit hooked up to a (working) FM traffic receiver, what's the difference in enabling/disabling the "traffic" avoidance? Is there any?

Rerouting

I believe that when you enable "traffic avoidance" -- the unit will automatically
route you away from congestion.

Alternate routing if faster

An alternate route will be selected if it is calculated to be faster than the original route even with the traffic delay (assuming you also set "Faster Time" for navigation).

Be sure you get the latest traffic receiver software. The older version had a tendency to say that every delay was one minute.

Is it true?

I humbly have to admit this is my pea-sized brain is coming up with: if having the "traffic" avoidance OFF is taking you on the fastest/shortest route, at least are you getting a warning and an option to take a detour to avoid a congestion?
Did anybody experience this?
