Wondering if anyone else has seen this...
I usually have my nuvi on map without a destination. Lately I've noticed that the screen changes after a few minutes (15-20 mins) from 3D view to 2D north up. While it was in 2D I touched the screen to see if it would switch to 3D but it just redisplayed the 2D map. If I choose a destination it goes back to displaying in 3D.
Thoughts anyone?

I've had this happen a couple of times on my 660. I have no idea what causes this. The only way I could get the 3d view back was, like you, reset the destination.
Wow! That never happened to
Wow! That never happened to me on my c530 or my nuvi350. Must be a 660 hidden "feature". Hope someone can come up with a valid explanation!

Mine hs just started doing
Mine hs just started doing the same thing. It seems like it happens on longer higway travels and not around town.

3D view to 2D view
I think when you don't have enough Satellites reception it will going to 2D. I had an old NAVMAN and when you first started it will get 2D view first until it reached enough satellites it will go to 3D.

Ah, that may be it. If the stretch of highway is very long, it could be that your Nuvi is zooming out very far. I just tried this in 3D mode on my 660. Seems if I zoom out 5 or 6 times, it kicks me into the north up 2D map. When yours does this, as you approach a new "turn event", does it zoom/switch back to 3D mode automatically?

Changing from 3D
My 660 has never done that - I have not been anywhere with poor sat reception so that may be it
Yep, mine too!

Same experience here.

I incorrectly stated that if I zoomed out 5 or 6 times it would take me to the 2D north up map mode. That's not correct as it takes me to the 2D TRACK up mode. When I was playing around before, I had a sim route going and happened to be traveling north at the time. Sorry for any confusion.

nuvi zoom level is based on speed.
nuvi zoom level is based on speed. Up to 59mph you can set it at one level, and 59 mph and above you can set a higher level (zoomed out).
When you reach 59mph it will zoom out and will zoom back in when you drop to about 45 mph.
In 3D mode, if it zooms out to the equivalent of 5mi it will switch to 2D mode.
