Disable viewing POIs?

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone has found a way to disable the display of POIs (either custom or built-in)?
I know both my Nuvi and MapSouce decide to display POIs based on my zoom level and map detail. This is fine for most locations , but I find it very frustrating in NYC. I am constantly changing the Map detail in MapSouce/GPS so I can see all the street detail without the tremendous number of POIs cluttering my screen.
Note: I used Street Atlas 9.0 a few years back and remember for NYC you could just disable POIs and see all the street detail.

Due to the frustratingly non-customizable Nuvi interface, you probably can't do what you want. After all, we can't even turn off the ZOOM feature.

You can turn off the zoom feature by setting the zoom level you want at both high and low speeds to the same level. Then the zoom level will not change.

You set the zoom level with the + and - buttons
You set the zoom level with the + and - buttons on the map while driving. It will remember the zoom level you set at slow speeds and at high speeds (above 59mph). No changes in the menus are necessary.
I have mine set to be at .3 miles at low speeds and 1.2 miles at highway speeds.
You can do the same when it is following a route. It will remember those zoom setting independently from the normal zoom settings.

A Manual Would Be Nice

If Garmin would simply include a manual with the GPSr, the nuvi 2xx don't come with manuals, we wouldn't have to figure all this out for ourselves!

Downloaded Manual
Back when I bought my C330 1 1/2 years ago I had the manual downloaded, printed out, and read before my C330 arrived 5 days later.
They are free to download from the Garmin site !

Yeap, that is what I have done, except for at high speeds it is 0.30 and at low speeds 500ft. I didn't know what the cut off speed was. Where did you get the 59 figure from? It seems that if I go 50 that it zooms out to .30 miles. But not all the time. I have been trying to figure out how that worked. However, I still don't think taht it will stay the same, cause when I am at an almost stop, it zooms in even further, like 200 ft.

I got the speeds from looking at the GPSr
I got the speeds from looking at the GPSr rather than out the windshield.
When I hit 59mph it zooms out. It won't zoom back in until my speed drops to about 45mph.

The Setup and Go booklet is not a User's Manual.
That booklet comes with all nuvi 2xx.

It merely tells you how to mount it, turn it on and use the most basic features.
It's equivalent to the one page instructions that computers and entertainment equipment come with to get you up and running.
