I am thinking this might help someone:

I have a 5 year Old Samsung Galaxy S3 - using Consumer Cellular as wireless provider - that will not load/run Smartlink. A friend gave me
his Samsung Galaxy S4 - but it is Verizon version and will not connect to Consumer Cellular -so I can't use it as my phone.

1. So I turned on Wi-Fi Hotspot on my S3
2. Loaded and run Smartlink S4

Suddenly the unit is not "updating".

I called Garmin support and they attempted 2 remote updates downloads via my PC and they failed as well.

The rep. informed me in order to resolve this issue they would have to charge me $50.00 because I was connecting to their server... WHAT???
Now I'll admit his English was poor but I asked him to repeat it and that's what he told me.

Hey there users of the 51 series, noticed on the Garmin web site for product description of these models that a Smart Phone is required for Traffic Notifications.

Will these units pick up the “normal Garmin Traffic” with the supplied as is boxes unit or the HD Traffic with the GMT 60 cable.......without a smartphone?

Have the Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT and after a complete full charge of the battery, I fully turn off the unit and within a couple a weeks, turn the unit on and the battery is nearly dead.

Anyone else experience this?

I have double checked and made sure they the unit is fully powered down and not in the standby mode.

Since getting my Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S, the wifi hasn't worked for updating the software. I have been able to update via USB cable. Part of me is considering sending it in for warranty repair and another part of me thinks that is too petty of an issue to send in for service.

What do you folks think? Just keep using it as it is or should I send it in and get it fixed?

I just purchased a Garmin RV 760. I have updated the software and the maps.

I have created a route for a long trip out West and into Canada in a couple of months in RV Trip Wizard. That program allows me to export routes as .csv Files.

Is there any way to upload that route to my new Garmin?

The latest iteration of Google Earth prevents usage of the link in Basecamp from working even if GE is running at the time.

Garmin's solution is to create a kml file in Basecamp, then open it in Google Earth. Its a feature I frequently use so their solution doesn't work well for me.

Just took delivery of a factory refurb'd DriveSmart 59LMTHD with 1yr warranty from Garmin.

Gave it a full charge using Garmin AC wall charger then powered unit on to check out it's features.

First thing I noticed was lack of "snap/pop" of colors on display. Adjusting screen brightness makes screen lighter or darker but of course does nothing to improve screen contrast.

Garmin is replacing my 760 because of a bad screen. I have another good 760. How can I get my "saved" locations from the old 760 to the new one?

When I connect my nuvi 3790 to my PC, I see a warning message on the lower-right corner of the computer:
"There is a problem with this drive. Scan the drive now and fix it."
The nuvi 3790 works fine without any problem.
Why I am getting this massage?
I am affraid to do this scan and fix.
I would appreciate any help and advice on this.

Do any of the new Garmin units call out which lanes to be in as you approach tool booths if you have transponder that negates need to stop to pay tolls ?

A few years ago some of the folks that had been here a long time were saying the Nuvi 3597 was still the best Garmin ever built. Do you still think so. I bought a refurb a few years ago and it is still going strong...thanks Stan

From the main menu in 660, I can hit the Satellite signal Icon in upper left corner of screen, and bring up a satellite menu... and see which are connected and signal strength....

How do I do that same thing on 2689 ????? Doesn't seem to work the same....

Pretty sure I know the answer to this but I'd like to hear what others have to say.

Fairly sure the internal battery on my Nuvi is faulty...can't get it to turn on even after overnight charger using wall charger, doing soft resets, etc.

Thought plugging into car outlet might bring it around...nothing.

I just rcvd my 3597 refurb but I can hardly hear it indoors. My old 1490 is VERY loud in comparison. Is this normal? Is there anything that can be done?

Looking at POI Factory Red Light Database is 9.00 per month or 20 per year. Garmin is now offering cyclops red light and speed camera for sale at 25 for a year. Any idea on how they differ?

I want to purchase one of them for my Drivesmart 60lmt, but unsure which one to purchase.

I presently own a Garmin 60CSX. I'm looking to upgrade to a 64S or 64ST.
Will I be able to transfer data to the 64S with my old MapSource software or will I need to use BaseCamp?
I have an old Topo Canada map that I've been using for my ATV and snowmobiles rides. Will I be able to transfer the old topo map to the 64S?
