Updated privacy policies

Seems that a lot of companies have went through an 'updated privacy policy' in light of all the stealing of personal information.
Garmin is no different.
Received my email today this morning.

Yes

I did too and I was wondering if this is actually real. Checking the email it has an odd sender address.
Something gets sent me and there is a clickable link, I am usually suspicious and do never click on the link.

Cyber paranoia is good

Same here. A little cyber paranoia is always a good thing.

Yeah

And all those emails about friends and family members needing $5,000 to pay off a legal problem so they can leave some banana republic... I tell them to work it off, won't take long.

And then those that want to buy my stuff for far more than I'm asking on Craigslist, I say sure, we can meet at the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot, right next to the Police station.

Interesting. Checking my

Mine Looks Okay

The one that I got has links that look okay to me. Not concerned enough to bother with reading the privacy policy. Nothing I can do about it anyway other than opt out.

If I hover over the link it shows it goes to a Garmin site..

and reply address is: reply@email1.garmin.com
It doesn't matter much is probably correct though.

links real and fakes

Well, for me way to check if this sort of information is real is not a link in email but going to company website and then looking for changes. Text displayed when you hover over link can be different than link itself. In this day there is way to many spam links included in emails, that clicking them become sort of Russian roulette. If you want to know where link will take you, you have to display "raw" message code, and than find where this link is really going.

@diesel.
I get contacted only by royalty or rich bankers, who offer me at least couple of millions USD for little help in getting them out of some African country smile

Norton and mobile

I tend to open more links now that Norton scans the link first and tells me it it is safe.
I clicked the link and it took me to the login page. The other way I can see if it is a real link is I have most of my logins saved so they pop into the website if it is the real site. If it's not the real site the login will not fill in. It did fill in on the Garmin site so I open it and then got side tracked and went to looking at other stuff. I forgot to look at the privacy update. O well, will try it again another day.
