Return Trip

Is there an easy way to enter your return trip on a RV760? Many times I use coordinates in planning my trip and when ready to return home I would like to not have to re-enter them......Am I missing an easy solution?

coordinates

Some coordinates for the trip cannot be used for the return trip. For example, on an interstate or a divided highway, the coordinates of a point would be on opposite sides of the road for the different directions.

If this is not done, then strange routing will happen that will put you on the wrong side of the road you want to be on. I always check a route carefully before leaving to make sure this did not happen.

Keep It Simple

Maybe it's due to me being lazy at times but I'm a subscriber to the Keep It Simple philosophy.

My technique for reversing a complicated route with several intermediate points, admittedly not a perfect or even a great technique, is to look at the original route, then to reverse it, choose a desired waypoint near the end of the original route that you really want to return to, then let the GPS create a new route from your current location to that waypoint. Once there, repeat the procedure and let the GPS create a route to another of the later waypoints of the original route which you really want to return to and create a new route to it. Repeat as needed until your back at the original route's starting point. This method can be tweaked by letting the GPS create an intermediate point (city, intersection, etc.) on any of these return routes.

I'm currently planning an upcoming 1800 one-way trip and return. Rather than create a route with the final 1800-mile destination, I create a daily destination of the next night's motel I'll use.

This is not the best method if planning a very scenic route involving lots of intermediate stops not on the GPS "fastest" or "shortest" routes, but it's what I do to Keep It Simple. Your mileage may vary cool

Look in "Recents". The

Look in "Recents". The waypoint will be there.

I use Basecamp

I always plan my route with Basecamp. If I am going to return the same way I click on the route and then choose invert and the program will invert and even put you on the right side of the road. Remember to save with a different name.

Interesting

I must try that, would be easier than starting over fresh!

This old dog is still stuck with the obsolete Map Source, which has the same reverse-route function. Come to think about it, have not touched Map Source for a while. The dog is getting older.
