Info desired Garmin GPS with built in Dashcam

A friend is interested in a Garmin GPS with dashcam.
Does anyone have experience with one?
Is there more than one model?
What price range are we looking at?

Thx for any info.

Seems

That only the Garmin® driveassist 50 LMT with dash-cam fits the bill.
I guess no one here is using one though.

It does

It does seem that way.

The worry I'd have about it is that the ideal location to view a GPS display is probably not the ideal location to mount a dash cam. Just guessing though...

Pretty good reviews

What I see are generally good reviews. Amazon is $ 127.35
When you consider a GPS alone and a Dash-cam alone can be well more in price.
My D-C is just behind the rearview mirror, I have a A118C D-C and it also has a GPS hockey-puck module connected to it.
Can't really see a D-C 18" lower making much of a difference. You really just want to see what's happening in front of you Craig.

Nuvicam

You are correct, when mouted in my usuall place the lower half of the camera sceen is the hood, no good for the auto lane warnings.

placement

And if you mount it higher, like near rear view mirror, it may become illegal in some places.

Dedicated cameras can be mounted behind mirror, and wire to start every time you start your car. With Garmin you have to always take it down or risk have it stolen. After a while it gets somehow tiring to install and uninstall Garmin every time. And if you install it only sometimes it's defying dash cam purpose.

If you look

Many police vehicles with GPS's are in the upper left corner of the wind screen...

wanting dash cam

I've been thinking about getting a dash cam, but agree that placement of the dash cam and GPS are in different places and therefore need to be different devices. I mount my GPS on the side window do to dash constraints and the dash cam, I'm thinking of mounting behind the rear view mirror.

For posting. Shows the Garmin exactly where I would put it.

For that very reason with my 2797 I use a beanbag mount and have a non-skid mat glued to the bottom. It takes a few seconds to take the GPS off the dash. Only my 855 uses a suction cup still.

This unit is too heavy to mount on the windshield. It kept falling off while car in motion. Finally returned it after a week of testing.

not impressed

After watching the video I was not impressed with camera function, the license plates of the vehicles in front were not readable.

I have a separate Dashcam and unless I pull the memory card and put it into my computer card reader I agree small stuff is hard to read.

As I write this reply, buydig has sold 892 through the ebay offering alone. I did look to the actual buydig website and it's $130 there.

I agree. I would prefer a separate piece for the camera. I use my GPS on a shelf on my dashboard.

Several Ideas

I have been several steps ahead of some of you.
I thought of a dash cam several years ago and came up with several solutions.
Instead of spending more money I took my Evario JVC movie camera and with a 64 gig SD card I mounted it to my Prius left vent window and took several trips over 60 miles ( I do not need lane drift, AZ does not have that much snow (NONE) where I live .My Prius has it and it does not work during snow storms or when the painted lines are faded. That worked fine but I never found out how long that card would record.
I am building a 6 foot scale model of the Delta Queen River Boat and I wanted a recording of the boat from the pilot house so I bought a cheap dash camera ($39) and tried it out and it was fine for it would record the front and back of the boat.
Then came the drone effect and now there are live cameras that you can watch as it shows live shot and now I am looking at what type I need for my boat.
