MapSource crashing on route calculation

Occasionally MapSource v6.16.3 will crash when calculating a route. Primarily happens when a way point is added to an existing route. The error reads FATALDIALOG REF.
Anybody else experience this and have found a solution?
CNNA2017.2 last map that works everywhere.
There are a few spots around the country that cause MapSource to crash. If you still have CNNA2017.2, that map set hasn't crashed on me when other maps do. The other way to solve the MapSource recalculate dilemma is to Import that gdb file into BaseCamp, recalculate after adding in the POI waypoint causing trouble, exporting back to a gdb file and continuing in MapSource, but not recalculating that one route.

Interesting work around
Unfortunately I don't have 2017.2 saved but bringing into BC and exporting just the route worked. I find BC very confusing and over complicated for auto routing so I stick with MapSource.

... it works slightly differently to MapSource but once you learn BaseCamp it's just as simple as MapSource. I've been using it for years now and occasionally when I go back to MapSource I find that complicated and awkward to use
