Garmin talk

I'm considering the purchase of a Nuvi 750 but I've been holding off due to the negative reports involving the FM Transmitter. It's very important that I be able to use audio books and mp3 files with the unit.

Is there a way to make a POI out of you MS Outlook file contacts? Or a way to import your address book to the Garmin?

While driving on a highwaw and my CC set to 70, my 260 reads 67. I also have a difference on the total miles I have driven, less on the GPS. Which is right? My car is almost new with the orignal tires.

OK, I'm an idiot. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I have attempted to upload several POI files directly. Even with a file as small as 72K, I still get a message that there is not enough room in the GPS to upload. Surely this can't be right. What am I doing wrong? Thanks much, in advance.

Well only got my Edge 605 recently, I've currently got a 1GB MicroSD in it (temp - I'm getting a 2GB soon) I've loaded on City NavNT Euro 2008 but only UK for now I'll wait for my bigger card before loading europe on ... the maps are stored on the card, that's great all works fine.

I'm from Montreal and I would like to know if I can order it. Garmin doon't sell it on his Canadian site and Amazone too. I'd like to know where I can order this mount. Thx

I thought this would be a great chance for people to talk about any questions having to do with Garmin Mobile XT. I just recently purchased Garmin Mobile XT for my Pocket PC. I already own another Garmin GPS and many maps (not the NT ver), so now I can seem to use the maps on the XT Garmin. Does anyone know how to make the maps work.

I am catagorizing my files for example: Campgrounds. Truck stops. Museums. etc, and some are showing up on the Zumo 550 but not all. Can I be exceeding the # of seperate catagories allowed under "extras" ?

I am thinking about purchasing the Travel Guide for the Nuvi 350. I want it because of the destination descriptions and reviews provided by Fodor's.

I am wondering if this product is worth buying. The GPS Store sells the Travel Guide for $54. Are the descriptions and reviews accurate? Is there a better product that provides this type of information?

I your NUVI is registered with Garmin is it automatically locked or is some other action required?

Well my nuvi 680w was stolen last night and was wondering if I really needed a 680 or if there was another wide screen nuvi out there that does the same stuff for less money. Don't need the Microsoft Live thing and all i really did was load POI files on it.Never used the MP3 player or the Bluetooth.
Any suggestions on a replacement or just get another 680?

My friend bought the Europe Map for his Nuvi 360. He vacationed there. He bought it in 2006, used it for 3 weeks and has never used it again, nor does he plan to use it again for the foreseable future.

I am going to go to Europe and thought it would be great if I could load it on my 360 for the 2 weeks I will be there.

Say you are in Seattle and you want to go to Las Vegas.

You select Las Vegas on your unit and it plots a course from Seattle to Vegas via various roads and highways.

If you did the same thing (select from Seattle to Las Vegas) in Mapsource, would Mapsource pick the exact same route (same highways etc) as my nuvi?

Does anyone now how to uninstall the language guide from the nuvi unit? What files do I have to delete?

I have a Nuvi 350. I only use Mapsource to transfer maps from pc to GPS. Other than that, the function I want to use most is the route planning on pc and transfer the planned route to GPS. But it seems Nuvi 350 doesn't accept Mapsource's route.

Do you folks find any other uses of Mapsource?

I'm TRYING to find where to put some custom GPI files on my Nuvi 660 so that when I go to TRAVEL GUIDE it will find them instead of showing me the message that I should contact Garmin. Is it possible to do this? Any ideas? The travel guides from Garmin come on memory sticks so there must be a way to link the files on the stick to the travel guide button on the Nuvi.

One of the reasons I wanted to get the Garmin 660 was for the FM transmitter. Once I used it, it works great, well ok. No FM transmitter is perfect and if you would to travel say from Arizona to California, you would have to change stations so many times.

Therefore, I have been researching a way to add an auxiliary input to my Honda Accord 2006 VP which doesn't come with one.

When using multiple maps (since I have yet to do this)and you travel from US to Europe and back, when you use the nuvi on a plane, do you just use the City Nav US map with the "off road" feature checked and zoomed way out until you get the signal then zoom in to an acceptable distance?
