Help in Loading gpi on Garmin Nuvi 660

Hi,

I spent three hours last night loading POI tours last night with the GPI extensions...I did use the garmen POI loader and then was notified on a site of a new communicator that makes loading from website easier. Well i was able to sucessfully load the gpi files to the sdi card in my Garmin, but when the loader continued it kept saying I needed csv or gpx files and "saw no data"... i used exploer to load on the card in the garmin. What am i doing wrong...? i tried to test the device to see if the gpi POI's would come up, but while it is loaded to the flash card in the device, it doesn't seem to load... what a major pain!!

help... can someone give me clearly understand how to load these files. Thanks. rfield

POI Loader

GPI files you just drag and drop into the POI folder, you do not need POI loader.

POI loader is for csv, gpx files and loading bmp and mp3 files associated with the csv/gpx.

follow-up on loading GPI file to nuvi 660

So the initial gpi files I copied to a file not in the Garman\poi file, it was just part of my documents and i created a new file called POI...I then drag and droped on the F: drive, which was the flash card in my Nuvi 660...should tht work? do i need to save to the Garmin\POI file? then how do i transfer to the Nuvi 660... just drag and drop..../

Thanks.

POI Loader

If you are loading directly to the SD card are you using the current POI Loader program 2.5.2?

Change History
Changes made from version 2.5.1 to 2.5.2:
Fixed an issue with loading BMP files.
Fixed an issue with saving GPI files to SD cards.

GPI

Where are you getting these .gpi files? Your POI files are either .csv or .gpx. then you use Poiloader and it will create the .gpi file on your unit. You can rename the .gpi file on your unit to avoid it being overwritten in future poiloading. But why is it that you are trying to deal with .gpi files?

So.....you just going to leave us in suspense?? smile
