Confused on POIs for nuvi 750

Bought a nuvi 750 Tuesday and downloaded some POI's that evening along with the POI Loader. Went through the exercise and expected that I could then see the downloaded POIs by accessing the POI screen in the nuvi. For instance if I wanted to go to dunkin donuts, while traveling, I could find it on the screen and have nuvi take me there. Is this not how it works?

Nuvi 880 has software update, no installation instructions

I downloaded the latest software update for my 880 the other day, but they did not have installation instructions.

If I am wrong, please correct me before I mess up something.

First, I connect my Garmin to the computer and put it in mass storage mode with the USB cable. Then I double click on the software update, and follow instructions.

Schools

I just got a Garmin 750 and there are no schools in the POI, we travel alot for Fooball. Any idea where I could find the schools?

Nüvi 750 sometimes has a different return route?

Does anyone know what causes the nüvi to select an often significantly different route from point B to point A than it took to get from A to B? This is not due to one-way roads and I've even seen it sandwich the different section of the route between segments that use the same road/interstate in the opposite direction.

Is the NUVI 200 able to read POIs from the SD card

I was about to buy a C330 but read on this forum that it cannot utilize the POI data from the SD card. To me the ability to access all of this data is one of the greatest features to have. My question is : can the Nuv 200 utilize POIs that I download from this site (or others)? TIA Ken

Nuvi 260 Battery Life

I have had my Nuvi 260 for less than 1 year and have noticed the battery life is now very poor. I will charge it, then use it until the low battery signal then charge it again. I never leave it plugged in all the time. At first it would slowly drain & now it seems to drain very quickly (2 hours).

Any one else have this issue?

Nuvi 200 newbie

Hello all, my name is Doug. I just ordered my garmin nuvi 200. It will be delivered to my doorstep on 8/25, just in time for my trip to MD. I did alot of reasearching before buying. All the reviews I read, people had nothing but good things to say about the nuvi 200. Staples.com had it on sale, bestbuy.com had the nuvi 250w on sale. I decided to go with the cheaper 200, since I am a new GPS user.

NUVI 780 MSN ADAPTER

Lost POIs

My pc crashed and lost all my POIs. I still have them on the SD card in the gps, is there a way to get them back on the pc ?

Backup (how do I backup a nuvi 660)

I would like to backup my 660. Is it the Garmin folder that I copy ?

A drive through the English Lake District - courtesy of Garmin

I was browsing through the UK part of the Garmin web site and came across some downloadable routes for "Great British Drives". I'm not sure I agree with all their choices, but the mini-site has some in-car video footage that you might like.

(It's from drive #1 - Keswick to Lake Windermere).

i would like to upload the TTS update only, but when using the webupdater, i am forced to first download fw 3.10 ( not going to that for sure )
is there a website where you can dowload only the TTS
(favorite is Jack, but he seems to stutter a little)

Confused Nuvi

My Nuvi 260 has never failed me since I bought last April. Today it was totally confused. When I turned it on and I had all 5 green satellite bars, I pressed GO to my Dr. office and when the screen came it showed an area with street names that I had no idea where I was. It then went into recalculate; the new screen had a different area and street names than the first, still not right.

Has anybody seen or used the new GDB-55 (MSN Rx for Nuvi 2x5s)?

Has anybody seen or used the new GDB-55 (MSN Rx for Nuvi 2x5 series)? They were supposed to be available Aug 1, but I haven't seen one yet.

If you know about the GDB-55, what was your experience? Is it worth the money?

Why use the 'Renaming' method when loading POIs?

Because of these many advantages over (or in addition to) the folder method.

ADVANTAGES:
1. It's very easy to track what POIs you have on your GPS. When looking at the GPS drive with a computer, you see POIs with names that make sense, not just one 'poi.gpi' file.
2. When you want to remove a POI, you simply delete the file from the GPS using the computer without having to reload all of your other POIs.
3. When you want to test a POI, for yourself or someone else, you can load it without losing your other POIs.
4. When you're away from the computer that contains all of your POIs (like vacation or wintering in AZ) and you want to add a POI, just add it without losing all of your other POIs. (Remember, your POI files are at home!)
5. Once the 'renamed.gpi' is created, either on the GPS or the computer, it can be moved back and forth at will. You no longer need to use 'POI Loader' to install the 'renamed.gpi' POI.
6. You no longer have to worry about again setting the correct alert distance or associating the correct sound file with the correct POI; these are all already included in the 'renamed.gpi' file.
7. If you have one POI that needs updating weekly, like the 'Redlight/Speed Camera' file, you simply update that one POI without losing all of your other POIs.
8. I created a POI that can't be posted because of the personal information it contains. When someone wants it, it is sent as a 'renamed.gpi'. This allows them to install it by simply saving it on their GPS ... no 'POI Loader', no overwriting.

DISADVANTAGES:
1. Requires a GPS that can be seen as a drive on your computer.

Instructions for using the 'renaming' method can be found in the FAQ at::

Garmin Support (lack thereof)

Was sadly surprised and very disappointed with what I had experienced in the past with what had been very favorable support from Garmin. Twice now in the last 4 weeks I have wasted loads of my time in an effort to establish why the MSN Direct Traffic & the Nuvi 760, would not ever show traffic issues/icons on the main screen and to provide the "avoid" feature.

Save user data?

Hi all,
Is there a way to save all user data (favorites) from Garmin C550 to my computer? I tried Mapsource (receive from device) and it said "this device has no maps, waypoints, routes or tracks).

Thanks.

Has anyone been able to load the Karen Voice on a Garmin 260W?

I have not been able to find this as an update for my Garmin 260W nuvi.

Please disregard... I downloaded the Web Updater and was able to download voices....

Changing POI

Is there a way to change when the alert sounds off without deleting all my POIs then reinstalling them.
