Home and MP3

I have saved my Home location and found a corresponding listing in Favorites. This listing now includes my phone number and is available via bluetooth. I have a self prepared MP3 file that warmly announces my arrival home and would like to have it associate with the favorite listing. I also would like it to be a proximity listing so have put SPEC (found this in hints file could substitute speed)in the file name. It looks like this Home_SPEC.mp3. Placed file in the "Custom POI" folder on my computer along with other folders (Food, People and places etc.) Used POI Loader to copy files to my c559 and was done successfully. Is there a better way to make "Home" proximity and personal alert?

You won't be able to

You won't be able to associate it with a 'Favorite'. You'll have to create and associate it with a custom POI.

Problem is that the the unit's "you have arrived at your destination' announcement will override and delay your mp3 announcement.

This would be true only if you chose to route yourself to your Home via favorites; there is no proximity alert. Most of the time you don't have to be routed home; and for those rare occasions you could use the custom-POI for home.

A little clarification please.

Did you use the keyword SPEC or did you use the keyword SPECS (or specs). The five character keyword is the one to use.

SPECS Typo here.

Test it like this.

Create a folder on your hard drive named 'Test Folder'

In it place your three files

Home_specs.csv
Home_specs.mp3
Home_specs.bmp

User POI Loader in Express mode, pointing it to Test Folder

Now test it. Use simulation or actual methods. If you have
the coordinates correct you will have the alert effect as
you approach your house. You don't have to have it
established and the destination point. If you do, the flag
will be over your .bmp, but the alert will still sound.

If you want to have your house in your Favorites, put it
there by normal means. As someone said, just because you
have a Custom POI for a waypoint doesn't mean that it will
be automatically made a Favorite.

My problem is not setting the alert to a POI but relating it to a favorite only and not creating a POI for it. I don't want a single POI file location and don't want to attach alert to several listings in a file. A post above said it can't be done. ?? An alert for my home only would require a POI file listing in extras just for that location. Thanks for any help you may have.

I have never heard of a way to place an alert to a Favorite
without using a corresponding Custom POI file for the
location of that Favorite -- with one exception. If you are
routing to that Favorite your nuvi will alert you that you
are arriving at your destination.

If you discover something please let us know.
