I'm having trouble unzipping zipped files to move into my Garmin POI file on my computer. Also, I can't get GTX files to load either. What am I doing wrong?

I'm having trouble unzipping zipped files to move into my Garmin POI file on my computer. Also, I can't get GTX files to load either. What am I doing wrong?
GTX
Rename the extension to GPX. When you double click on a zipped file you should be able to choose to Extract all, and the file should be unarchived.
GPX Files
After downloading a .GPX file, it asks for an application to open it. What does this mean? I don't know how to open these files....with what program?
All I want to do is move it to my POI file.

Windows
If you are using Windows, just right click on the Zip file and select extract all.
