Can't "GO" to a POI with a Speed Alert, on Nüvi 7xx

I just noticed a difference, in the Nüvi 7xx, compared with the other units I own.

If a Custom POI has 'Speed' alert (not a Proximity alert), then there is no "GO" button and it therefore can't be used as a destination.

I wonder why the 7xx team decided to implement this? Anybody request it? wink

Nuvi 660

Anybody that purchases a Nuvi 660 and wants the full users manual for this device can feel free to send me an e-mail, and I'll be happy to provide you with the manual that Garmin no longer carries (as they no longer support this wonderful unit)......

Garmin 350

I purchased the Garmin 350 recently. Can anyone share the access experience, adv. and disadv. for me? Thank you.

loss of detail

HELP - recently (over the last 10 days) I have lost most detail on my maps. Things like exit ramps, even some fairly major interstates that have been built in the last several years. The odd part is that when I first got my Nuvi 660 (maybe 2 months ago), everything was fine. Now, I've actually lost data. What the heck!

It came with 2008 maps, and I have not updated.

ebooks

I was wondering if it is possible to view ebooks/pdf files on a nuvi 200w in a format other than jpeg.

Red light camera's

Is it necessary to list the co-ordinates of all camera's at one intersection or is the co-ordinate of the center of same intersection okay. I have found more than one and sometimes three camera's at one intersection???

Mounts

Looking for recommendations for GPS Mounts - I have heard the suction cups fall off in hot weather and leave a tell-tale circle on your window for thieves. Any recommendations for alternatives?

GPX files VS CSV files

Hi everybody,

Here is a little question for the pros....

I always download CSV file (+ soud & icon) for my garmin Nuivi 660 and everything works perfectly.

Now I see in the POI section a file that interest me a lot but it's in GPX data.

Can I (easily) transfer it to a CSV format ???
(any links or way to do it)

Can I download both CSV & GPX to my unit ???

RR Xings files UPDATED

I have just updated the last 25 RR Xings files I uploaded.

I had to update because the comment field had wrong data in it.

I am not sure how it happened but my macro used to manipulate the Federal Railroad Admin database quite working properly.

Converting MS Streets (.est) FILES to file that will work with Garmin 750

Hi, I use MS Streets program on my Macintosh laptop. There are a bunch files that I would like to convert to use with my GPS. There is a program that will do this but it is way over my head. It is callled GPSBabel. Could someone tell how to use this program to do what I want to do or some other way to convert the files. Thanks Terry

FM Traffic in Toronto (GTA)

Has anyone noticed that there seems to be NO FM traffic updates in Toronto (GTA) on the weekends? Is this true for other cities?

I had suspected it for some time, but this weekend was very clear, since there were significant highway closures in the area.

Adding POI - appending or replacing?

Hello all,

I downloaded several POIs from here and upload to my unit. Now, let's say that I keep uploading the sames POIs over and over to my unit, will the POIs on my units be replaced or POILoader will just keep appending them? Just curious...

Garmin 260 documentation

I'm a hard headed geographer who finally purchased my first navigation type unit......a Nuvi 260.....mainly because I have way to many addresses now that I need to locate when I travel.

I think the 260 is an awesome unit but I do believe the documentation is lacking. I was hoping they had more detailed documentation available to download on the website but no such luck.

'Go To" query

I just bought my first gps, a nuvi 260 ,and would like to be able to find some long lost friends as we travel by typing in a city, and then a person's name without knowing the correct address and access a list of folks with that name. Is this possible? My screen only recognizes a typed in address.

Thanks much,

Pops

Can't Load Audio Alerts To Nuvi 650

I have loaded a number of .csv poi files to my Nuvi 650 with no problem. However I wanted to set audio alerts for red light cameras and am having a hard time. I have followed the instructions in previous posts, but can't seem to get the mp3 to load on the Nuvi. I have one folder set up as "Garmin POI's" and in it are 3 csv files and a mp3 file for red light alerts.

Need a pause button

I just got back from a trip and realize that a "Pause" button is needed while traveling. When I stop for a break, "Jack" gets upset and repeats "Recaculating" over and over! Really irrating. I know I could press stop and then go back to the destination, but a "Pause" button would be great. Then when you re-start, just press "Pause" again and you are back on the road.

Happy you bought a Garmin?

I will not mention the other (very well known and generally respected) brand - but share the experience. A relative bought another brand - near the top of their range. For a user who has just a little problem finding the on switch on a computer ( wink ) and who has never had a GPS before - soon well out of their depth. question
