Is there a way to set a preferred road?

Lately, when using the navigation on my 760, I end up saying "Nah, I don't want to go that way." fairly often.
I've messed around with the faster time/shortest distance settings and nothing ever changes. From my house, it's a straight shot down one road all the way to the major interstate freeway that I use a lot...however, my 760 always tries to get me to do a zigzag pattern on several roads to get to the freeway.
Here's a picture of what it will do: http://img115.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mapfq3.jpg
I don't know why it hates the road I want to take so much, but as I drive down it, my 760 is constantly recalculating, and then tries to get me to go down a different road. As you can see from the picture, my 760 *loves* Bangerter Hwy...it's always the 1st route chosen when going north or south. If I pass it, it will tell me to do a U-Turn and get on the Hwy!!! I don't mind going down Bangerter Hwy, the speed limit is 60, but there are signals on every major intersection, so using I-15 ends up being *much* faster.
Is there any way to set a preferred road to take whenever possible?

preffered road
do a a viapoint along the road you prefer and then set it up as a route

Hmmm?
do a a viapoint along the road you prefer and then set it up as a route
How do you do that?
Also, would I have to do that every time I try to navigate somewhere?

Yes.
There's no way to set an automatic preferred road.
The newer units (8xx?) allow
The newer units (8xx?) allow you to set avoidance areas.
Road Advoidance

Lame....
Thanks guys.
Since my 760 is my music source, I guess I'll just have to start the navigation while sitting at the red light, waiting to turn on to the freeway.
